city breaks

Prague!!
Amazingly cheap to get to/stay......and amazingly cheap when you are there. Steeped in history. Jump onto one of the many free walking tours which start at the Astranomical Clock and end at the Castle. Food and drink cheap.....and they even have a KFC which should suit the 16 year old :-D0 -
Keep Rome up there - All of the sights are walkable from each other and it is a lovely city for wandering. Thinking back to when I was 16 - the girls there would have my eyes lifted from my mobile for the duration (had I had one back then). It really is beautiful (and will be mad busy). Same for Riga though it is much smaller.
Strasbourg is stunning and not the EU hub you may think. Also good train links for half-day trips.
Florence also great for history and, erm, girls.0 -
Thanks for the ideas.
It's me who'll need the kfc, DS much more adventurous food wise.
And bakerboy he actually doesn't use a mobile...very weird in this day and age I know.
And yes Doshwaster, it is tough he is too big for kiddy things but can't do adult stuff. What is especially difficult. Is previous holidays he has always had company with his siblings, he is finding it difficult to adjust to being the only child with us.0 -

Just be grateful that he still wants to go on holiday with you. When I was 16 I was pleading with my parents to be left at home so that I could get up to mischief with my friends rather than be dragged along on a family holiday.0 -
What about Krak!w : salt mines,auschwitz,rifle shooting,cheapish food and beer etc0

Am afraid he is stuck, he can plead all he wants. House rule is that you come on holiday until you're 18, so he has to endure this year and next before he escapes.
Was same for all older siblings too, hence reason he had company for so long, last summer was first time solo for him.0 -
Just thought I'd update this, much much MUCH discussion later we've booked and are going to Copenhagen.
Somewhere no one not even ourselves had considered!!!
Thanks everyone for the thoughts, we've noted them all as we'd like to do more city breaks.0 -
Last time I was there Copenhagen was expensive, even fast food places.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
