I'm really not sure what you are expecting to hear? That there is some wonderful state benefit that you're entitled to that allows you to enjoy your normal lifestyle and the new addition to the family that you've decided to create?
Nope... either earn more or spend less!
It seems the harder you work in this country, the less you country wants to help you.
Why do you have an expectation for the country to help you? You are saying you deserve the average taxpayer to feed you & your family because you choose to go out to work? But you are living above your means! You say you need £500 for running a car, feeding 2 adults and 1 baby. That's an awful lot.
I agree with others, this situation shouldn't have come as a surprise! You had 9 months notice at minimum, longer if the baby was planned. What did you expect would happen? People plan family to help, source cheaper childcare & get places, find new jobs etc, move house to a cheaper place... all during that wonderful 9 months you have to play with. It seems as though you've stuck your head in the sand and suddenly it's all a big shock!
I'm 30, I can't afford to have a baby and keep up the lifestyle that I want, despite having a professional career! So therefore I will never be a parent. That's me making a moral, sensible decision based on certain variables. However if I ran on your rules, I guess I'd be pregnant by now.0 -
I agree £500 for food and a car? Food for 1 adult 2 kids and 2 cats in my house rarely goes above £40 a week!0

This is a car that does about 20 mpg and needs specialised servicing. And whatever mods he's had done on it. We run a similar car but have a household income several times larger than the OP's.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

I can just picture it now, rocking up to the CAB in a pimped out Subaru, to complain he doesn't have enough money to make ends meet for his family.
