Hows the SNP bad coming along ? anything new ? or is it same old same old ?
  • Ah yes. I enjoy nothing more than sitting down to enjoy the 'English Fish Fatface Scotland' thread of a cold winter evening. Starting from page one all the way up to post nine thousand and something.

I savour every twist and turn like a good book. I particularly like the bits where some people say Scotland is going to be independent of the UK and then some other people say it isn't.

A lot of people follow and read threads without ever contributing to them. Reader v's poster ratio's are about 100 to 1 on most forums. I wasn't aware you could mass delete your own posts here which was my point. On my own forums there is a different policy, and long running threads are renewed far earlier. Threads remain intact as posted. Hey ho.

You savoured this thread enough to start it in the first place, and contribute to it repeatedly. That you're personally not interested in it now is of no relevance to anyone reading it really. Since they obviously are. You're certainly not being forced to read it. Nor post on it with a grand announcement that you are no longer interested in it either. :)
In Internet culture, the 1% rule is a rule of thumb pertaining to participation in an internet community, stating that only 1% of the users of a website actively create new content, while the other 99% of the participants only lurk.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Yes. Loads of people wailing and gnashing teeth that the thread is still going and declaring no interest whatsoever in the subject. Bores them to tears in fact. Despite having followed it from the start and frequently clicking on it to read it. ;)

Aye wailing and gnashing of teeth ... but still interacting ... must be addictive ;)

I had heard there was a lot of the "old labour" brigade that had joined tge SNP round that way ... that behaviour does seem to indicate it is the case :)

The wrong sort of SNP member. Didn't think there was such a thing.

As we say in Scotland, away and boil yer heid man. Rebuttal is the very essence of debate. If you'd rather we got all cuddly and 100% agree with each other, murmuring 'oh yes I agree with that' every single post then debate and discussion forums just aren't for you I'm afraid. You're not suited to participating if you want everyone to agree while discussing contentious issues. And if it's just me and you don't like what I post, then that's just tough... whatever. I thought Brexit fever would've caught on here and taken over by now. But the thread is dead.

I simply bypass discussions that don't interest me. Most sensible people do so. I have absolutely no idea why someone would actually want to post on one that doesn't interest them in the slightest ( yet seem to have read the whole lot of it ).. unless it's to draw attention to themselves in some weird and wonderful way ?

Toptip 2 :- Threads do not last very long if people aren't bothered or interested enough to post their thoughts on them. This one should've died looooooong ago.. but it hasn't. Mabye I'll start a new one anyway when it does. I've never started one properly before... and call it 'Sturgeon doesn't hate the English but Salmond is still overweight and is out to milk the English taxpayer anyway'. ;)

ps and if no one responds I'll simply keep posting glowing SNP and wonderful pro independence economic updates in it.

I bet no one except Scottish cartoon characters actually says that.

Don't knock cartoon characters. My Mayor and PM are pretty much cartoon characters, but not quite so 3-dimensional. :o

You'd be wrong and it seemed more polite to use that rather than the English written equivalent.
Let’s face it, Glasgow has plenty of phrases telling you where to go. Like some others, this one implies that you’ve to go for talking nonsense – so much nonsense, in fact, that you’ve to boil your own head in shame for being so ridiculous.
