Salmond and Sturgeon Want the English Fish for More Fat Subsidies

Just a bunch of English stuff. Nothing important.
Nothing will be cut. The status quo No voters wanted will remain as it's looking increasingly unlikely any deal will go through. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
As I've said previously, I don't much invested in this whole debate. If Scotland voted out of the UK I would feel quite sorry for the majority of Scots but apart from that I'd just be very fascinated to see how it turned out. My belief is : badly.
But it would be a great opportunity to see just how socialist the SNP are or aren't in the face of the market, and how well the magic money tree can work. I'm being slightly mischievous here, what I mean is, could Scotland defy the odds, borrow their way out of any slump and make everyone richer without any downside?
Is it terrible that somewhere in a deep dark place I almost hoped they'd gain independence, to satisfy my curiosity?
Since when has the SNP ever been 'socialist' ? Tartan Tories when it suits and rampant lefties when it suits whoever is making the criticisms. They're center. Which is why the real left wing parties in Scotland like the Greens, RISE and increasingly Scottish Labour aren't gaining any traction. And neither can the Conservatives at the other side, nor Scottish Labour when it was Jim Murphy in charge to the right. Mhari Black and Fergus Ewing in the same party. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

No wonder the SNP are sabotaging the negotiations. The latest Quarterly National Accounts Scotland report showed that Scottish GDP per head of population is now 1 per cent lower than that of the UK.
Examining the figures, which summarised Scotland’s economic performance up to the third quarter of 2015, John Mclaren, honorary professor of economics at Glasgow University’s Adam Smith Business School, said Scotland’s poor growth per person compared with the rest of the UK stands in contrast to figures two years ago when the figure was 6 per cent in Scotland’s favour.
Mr Mclaren also pointed out that it was over 15 per cent in Scotland’s favour in 2008.
The data also shows that Scotland’s geographical share of North Sea revenues amounted to only £21 million in Q3, as against £2,700 million in the same quarter of 2011 and £4,300 million in 2008
The Scottish economy has been tanking under SNP rule...
The last thing they want is to end the Westminster subsidy as that would expose just how incompetent they are.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
-- President John F. Kennedy”0 -
Not at all.
God invented Scotland so Westminster would have a place where they could experiment. See "poll tax" for more details
Lol. They won't be trying that sort of caper again any time soon.Stay with us: David Cameron's desperate plea to Scots
Prime Minister warns that independence is a 'leap in the dark' that will punish future generations
“The United Kingdom is a precious and special country”, Mr Cameron said. “That is what is at stake — so let no one in Scotland be in any doubt: We desperately want you to stay; we do not want this family of nations to be ripped apart.”Scottish independence: David Cameron in impassioned plea for Scotland to stay
Prime minister, embarking on tour with Clegg and Miliband, says yes vote would rip apart a union that is the envy of the world..It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Seems pretty clear. The Scottish National Party did not have a clear ideological position until the 1970s, when it sought to explicitly present itself as a social democratic party in terms of party policy and publicity
To suggest otherwise is a little disconcerting. Arguably misleading the electorate.0 -

But they do Hamish. That's exactly what the SNP want to end. All that dependence. Cameron shouldn't have made promises he couldn't keep either like Vows and stuff. Let's hope that's a lesson to him over the EU.. oh wait...
The Vow, the Smith Commission and the Scotland Bill are all unionist constructs. Thank goodness for Swinney. No one wants to pay more just to stay in the union. That would be total madness. It wasn't what was promised either. Ruth Davidson's going to have a rather hard time with all her planned tax cuts now isn't she.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

They were called Tartan Tories all through the 70's and 80's. My dad still calls them that. Scottish Labour are basing their current campaign around reviving the Tartan Tory label.
But Greens etc are calling for them to be more radical and socialist. They're just not getting on board quick enough with fracking bans, land reform and shutting down on fossil fuels. Not announcing raising sweeping taxes on the rich quick enough either for Solidarity or RISE.
Pretty much center ground I'd say.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

I would have called the Tories a center party. To me, the US parties are more to the right while in the UK the Tories still support high state spending on health, welfare and other services. Just because they are trying to moderate the spending doesn't mean they are right wing.
But SNP seem to oppose nearly every spending cut they make, and would actually increase state spending particularly on social welfare, rather than decrease it. That left me assuming they were more left wing / socialist. I get easily confused though.0 -

SNP.org, SNP facebook and the SNP twitter account all describe SNP as:
"Centre left and social democratic"If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0
