    So they say.

Apparently Scotland's debts were £300,000 when the Parliaments united. I once applied compound interest at the BoE base rate since then and the debt worked out to be £1,000,000,000,000, the same as the national debt at the time.

Obviously since then the debt has increased faster than the BoE base rate but then again Gilt yields are generally higher than the base rate.

So it does take a special type of ingrate to complain about the English/Westminster, when their ancestors volunteered to help create the Union, and the people around now are still free to leave whenever they want?

Is The National a Scottish version of The Daily Mash or is it actually a newspaper written in pigin English?

In London just now and I've noticed loads of British flags ( tourist places) but no English flags, I find that quite sad tbh, it would be great to see loads of people proud of their country by showing their own flag.

Maybe when we get independence the people of England will more willing to display it

I noticed when I was in Wales last month and the month before there were plenty of Welsh flags about, was good to see :)

It does make me titter when you do it - especially as you're from Dorset(?).

Then again I do find Jamie Oliver's 'mockney' accent to be pretty funny too.
