The thing that makes me ignore you and scroll past your posts.
You choose to see her as a deliberate liar. I don't. I've stated why and I can't see any point in going round and round once again on a matter we disagree on.
you will never see any SNP person as anything than a paragon of virtue whatever the evidence and whatever the facts.
Did she even apologise for the distress caused?0 -

Show me evidence that she deliberately lied? I've told you what I've read and it clearly does not constitute that. However you can put your spin on it and some will agree with you. Not I.
If this reinforces your opinion of me then there's nothing I can say to change that.
I don't know if Phillipa did apologise but I don't see any articles about any distress caused either.0 -
In the decades to come the Carmichael case will form a small part of the story of 'the decades of petty whataboutery politics in which Scotland ripped the heart out itself, before disappearing into a self imposed self righteous wilderness'
Just looked at the crowdfunding page, the so called Orkney4 have raised £185,050 from 9110 backers. Figure might even include repeat donations for all I know. The crowdfunding is open to all, how many constituents who are the important people here, felt strongly enough to donate is anyone's guess. There are approx 22000 voters in that area.
Seems they need just over £200k just to cover their costs, and if Carmichael seeks and is awarded his costs then I hear from a very reputable source what they've raised so far could be swallowed up by his costs never mind their own.
One of the orkeny4's updates on their crowdfunding page states ' we feel a bond of true people's solidarity and support. Together we have done something inspiring and unique. Please keep sharing the fund & telling everyone about this important story.
Can anyone, anywhere please explain to me what has been , inspiring, unique or important about any of this? Because I really just don't get it. Time for everyone up here to get a bleeding grip.0 -
And that's why there's no point in trying to explain ... you will never get it ...
I happily donated ( on more than 1 occassion) and will happily donate again come pay day0 -

Its good to know that scotland has no better use for £200,000 than a failed court case
but I guess they do have that extra 3,000 per family from the ever generous english to waste as they see fit.0 -
Because the nationalists are unable to make any criticism of other nationalists a theme has developed where the severity of a lie seems to depend on who said it.0

If you, or some-one close to you, had been diagnosed with cancer, you personally wouldn't have been concerned if a NHS consultant had just singled out your local area as being grossly substandard for that cancer treatment?
I guess you could argue that no-one believed the liar anyway so no harm done.
And no, I don't believe you will ever criticise an SNP supporter until Auntie or Uncle tell you to. Only your actions can change that.
I'm also sure, you will still believe every word Whitford says, even though she freely admits she just repeats coffee room tittle tattle as facts without checking on anything. (That's assuming you believe the nonsense about some un-named person telling her the rubbish in the first place.).0 -

Carmichael was on trial for possibly breaking electoral law. Not lying. He'd already admitted that.
The crowdfunding went extremely well because lots of people were disgusted. Not only with his admitted lying and hypocrisy... but more especially his timing. Which stunk to high heaven. He'd already admitted if he'd still been Scottish Secretary it would have been a resigning matter. Lots of us saw no distinction between him being Scottish Secretary and resigning, and being an MP and having to resign.
MP's who call on others to live by the words below, should be prepared to conduct themselves by them. He simply faced the consequences of, by his own admission, not doing so.“The right to freedom of speech is a fundamental one but it does bring a responsibility with it to tell the truth. The right to smear an opponent is not one we should be defending.”Alistair Carmichael, Shetland Times, 12 Nov 2010.
The success of the crowdfunder simply reflected ordinary people's desire to see something done about it. His career is now over no matter the verdict. And he's damaged his party in Scotland greatly at a time they can least afford it.
Sometimes, mabye just following the rules on not leaking confidential government memo's ( when one is in a position of great responsibility to the Scottish people as Secretary of State ) to rags like the Telegraph should just be followed ? I bet he's wishing now he had. Instead he sought to influence the result of a democratic and fair election by underhand methods and unfounded smears. And then expected ordinary voters just to shrug shoulders and say 'oh well, never mind' when he admitted it ? Dream on.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Well, anyone with money can take a person to law even if they lose the case.
However, morally the case against Whitfold is indefensible and all people who believe in responsible and decent behaviour in politics would agree.
anyway she will probably soon lose interest in politics as she is lacking the limelight: she should at least have gone down to the NE and apologised to the people there.0 -

So many words, and yet you failed to answer the question.0
