  • First does not equate to unique, inspiring nor interesting. The fact you can't even contemplate that , says a lot about what is happening in Scotland for the worse these days. But don't let that get in the way of another of your postings on here.

Well plenty of other people were fired up about it's 'uniqueness' enough to donate £200,000. But don't Carmichael and public opinion ( that isn't yours so it must be wrong )..get in the way of your own 'high horse' its all the SNP's fault' postings.

It's unique because there was a court case about the 'honorable' Mr Carmichael MP's conduct during the election. 3 out of 3 points had to be proved without doubt. The court case sided with the Orkney group in 2 of those. 1) that he had mislead and 2 ) that he had did so in a way to attempt to affect the outcome of an election... it was only 3 ) that he'd mislead in a 'personal' capacity.. rather than a political one that wasn't proven beyond doubt. Skin of teeth stuff.

If it doesn't interest you. Then do feel free to refrain from any further comment on how much it doesn't interest you.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

So on a positive note a bunch of obsessive Nats are out of pocket £200K. :)
“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

  • Nonsense.

The woman lied over and over again. There wasn't the slightest bit of truth in her very detailed story. It was completely made up.

You cannot exalt an NHS consultant for knowing what's really going on in the NHS and then excuse her complete lack of knowledge of what's really going on in the NHS as an 'honest mistake'...

Yesterday's news Hamish. You can't relive the last independence referendum forever you know. People have and are moving on... working towards the next one at some point. Where I expect Phillipa Whitford will play a leading role. Take her to court if you're that bothered ? And crowdfund the fees. I'm sure if so many, many people feel like you out there.. there will 100,000 quid put up in a jiffy....

    ( only there's not is there ).

You can in the through-the-looking-glass world of Natland. A place that remains solvent regardless of the tax base. A place where freedom of expression is maintained by banning dissenting voices. A place where the lies of supporters are honest mistakes but the opinions of opponents are dangerous lies to be suppressed.

Yes the SNP has this fundamental weakness of not being able to face up to mistakes.

    For example:
Nicola Sturgeon: I've no regrets over cutting Forth road bridge budgets

Money well spent imo, every penny of those small donations. And he's not out of the woods yet either.

My goodness.....a lot of outrage again! And it isn't coming from the 'nats!'

If you scroll back you'll see the Carmichael case wasn't even raised by one of us 'nats'. It was string who brought it up, fair enough. I commented but I wouldn't have raised it on this thread. Carmichael himself has most probably ended his political career and possibly other lib dems in Scotland too. Pretty sad state of affairs. Willie Rennie ( Scot lib dem leader) apparently had nothing to say yet he is the most vocal and often outraged anti SNP msp around. I didn't notice any outrage over the £1.4 million enquiry this sorry tale cost the state. And all the while he knew the truth.......

Once again it's all about trying to blame the SNP for something someone else did. Isn't that just slightly outrageous to anyone? I'm pretty sure you're all thinking "yeah, Nicola probably did say that" but when it comes to Phillipa Whiford, oh no, she's an out and out liar.....She has been tarred simply because of her party, we can argue till the cows come home about what she said and whether it was a stupid but honest mistake or not. The fact is unless the doctor who relayed this comes forward then nothing can be proved or disproved. But it's SNP......

You may claim we are brainwashed acolytes but to be honest I think you need to look a bit closer to home to see who views are really skewed here. It's a bit pathetic really. SNP are just bad, bad, bad.

Theres definitely a few wannabe politicians on this thread, spinning and twisting to suit. Oh! The very same as you accuse us 'nats' of.

    And breathe.......:)

The crux of that argument is whether simply not being "happy" is ever going to be enough for a majority of Scots to go nuclear and vote for independence. You extrapolate too much from current voting trends in my view. Who's to say that a majority of Scots will be happy to vote SNP ad infinitum but never feel the need to vote independence?

Current 'trends' have been moving this way since 1997. First Holyrood, now Westminster... from the low 20's for independence to 45% to 50/50 in latest polling. I'm not sure how there will be a way back for the union. Giving further powers will only result in more being asked for ( that is what most Scots want ). And not giving further powers will only result in another independence referendum at some point.

Labour will need to recover before 2020. Another Tory majority will push Scottish public opinion well over the line for independence.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

I was thinking of saying that exact same thing! Get a crowdfunder going and take her to court.

I guess this means we must be colluding acolytes :rotfl:

And yet again another Daily Record story without even the faintest reference to facts. No wonder it's dying on it's bum.
    1. The decision not to replace the entire section of bridge containing the part which has since become defective was made in 2010 by the now-defunct Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA), a non-government organisation dominated by Labour and Lib Dem board members. (The SNP had just three out of 10.)

    2. They elected to defer replacement after the Scottish Government reduced FETA’s capital funding in 2011. However, an Audit Scotland report in October 2012 noted that “FETA’s reserves will be utilised to meet planned capital funding shortfalls over the next three years”.
The decision not to use the reserves to replace the section was FETA’s, which didn’t consider the work a priority in the light of other concerns.

Lies don't stop being lies because

    (a) the liar is a nationalist or
    (b) people voted for them in the full knowledge they're liars

Even on an anonymous forum on an internet backwater you can't bring yourself to condemn the lies of anyone remotely connected to the SNP.

Prove to me she deserves condemnation. That's right, prove it and I will concede.

    Simples. :)
