    Elantan, shakes, zag,

I'm still reading but have given up trying to explain or get others to see that we are not all extremists. It's very disheartening to think this is how SNP & or Indy supporters are seen. A source of much ridicule it seems.

I appreciate you taking the time to recall incidents last year Elantan but they will be dismissed. No one listens to anything other than what supports their view that Yes were the troublemakers & instigators.

There was some graffiti painted on a polling station on the 18th sept near me. It said 'vote no & die' or something like that. Yep, that's one way to get people to change their vote! Of course the media jumped on it and Jackie Baillie was outraged. I'll never be convinced unless the offender comes clean that it wasn't sabotage.

You've no idea how riveting it is reading insults about the FM & former FM...........zzzzzzzz

Aye Leanne I agree ... will be totally honest and say I don't know how Shake manages it all ... I'm not as polite as her by any stretch of the imagination

Yep the FM and former FM stuff does get very zzzzzzz ... but then it becomes all white noise and we carry on anyway

Do you remember the big issue Ruth Davidson made of the general election polling station carry on ?

Where she accused the snp of having big burly men outside a polling station threatening people if they didn't vote snp ?

Then the wee ladies instantly took photos and put them up ?

I honestly hope Jackie Baillie goes next year, she's another one I can't stand tbh

I do feel it's a shame though that Tom Greatrex lost his seat this year, would've much rather he stayed and we got rid of that useless labour MP we have Ian something or other ... Tom was a very good MP ... sadly a victim of Labours behaviour

  • You know the problem I have trying to link to posts, can just about manage a link to a website, but not to article. Have signed myself up for some classes. Sorry I asked, didn't think you would mind, as you post so many on here thought it would only take a few seconds of your time.

I followed the link to the article I posted, directly from twitter to the article. Not the Herald website front page itself. If I had seen the Lord Smith article up, I may well have posted it, but I didn't. I apologise that I forgot about your linking difficulties. However, in turn when jumping on my posts re balance, do take time to note that I may not have read a newspaper or media source in it's entirety when posting up a link ( though I will have read the article I post in full ).

The comments, like most Herald politics articles theses days,.. under the Lord Smith piece make for far more interesting ( because he would say that wouldn't he ) reading.

Crown Estates, and the Sewell Convention are just two areas which haven't been delivered in full as agreed. The cross party Devolution Committee also points this out among other things. In short, just because Lord Smith says it.. doesn't make it so. And after all, Smith Commission participants all agreed on the below also...yet won't devolve referendum control.
"It is agreed that nothing in this report prevents Scotland becoming an independent country in the future should the people of Scotland so choose."
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?
  • Your post sounds just like Sturgeons feeble excuse when unable to deflect or mislead under questioning on Police Scotland. She tried to bail herself out by resorting to quoting her latest polling results. It was a poor decision. For which she was berated for appearing to brush off serious failings within Police Scotland which have resulted in loss of life, with her popularity ratings.

Huge mistake. Her realisation of her mistake in doing so was clear to see. Which is why it took her long so long to regain some composure. She was too occupied trying to estimate the damage she might have done to her image of someone who cares.

As for her popularity and being well known, she's the First Minister, and was flying around in Scotland in a personalised helicopter last year, never mind never off the news. FGS.

You blame Nicola Sturgeon personally for a police call out that went tragically wrong ? Dear me.. we are getting a little carried away with the blame game aren't we.. Police Scotland may well be having troubles with merging. But crime rates are falling fast and have been for years.

Sturgeon doesn't need 'bailed out' or deflection on her behalf. The numbers speak for themselves. And they're quite good ( since the SNP has been in power anyway ). http://www.gov.scot/Resource/0048/00484776.pdf

The NHS is similar. Doing way better in comparision to the English and Welsh ones, ( A and E waiting times, more nurse/doctor numbers than ever, no industrial action threatened by junior docs etc ).. despite all the cuts. Not doing too badly there either.

I think you're confusing Labour campaigning, with well, facts.

Scotch mist ? And this was with a No vote that WON ! Extremist thugs it seems. All supporting BetterTogether.
POLICE have charged 32 people with 37 alleged offences, including serious assault and carrying an offensive weapon, in connection with loyalist violence the day after the independence referendum...

...Hundreds of police, including mounted officers, were mobilised to try to keep pro-independence voters and passers-by safe from a group of unionist extremists celebrating the No victory. Sir Stephen described the events to his main civilian oversight board, the Scottish Police Authority, yesterday. He said: "Yes had campaigners gathered in the square - and I would stress there was no trouble with that.

However, later on a group of people who arrived who you may wish to characterise as No campaigners.

Nice backtracking. Sure it was ;)... Notwithstanding the fact that no-one under the age of 45 would even remember the Two Ronnies, never mind individual ( albeit long running ) sketches on it.

So explain that joke you most certainly would have to to most.

I heard on the news the other night that Scotland's A&E is performing better than England's. Those nasty nats in power, actually doing things quite well.

No doubt (in the immortal words of George Foulkes) they're doing it on purpose! :rotfl:

Hmmmm........you see Ss and your first thoughts are the two Ronnies's.

    Yeah, right.

Yes, I do remember that. Ruth did make herself out to be a bit of an idiot didn't she!

This is what politicians must remember in these days of social media, nothing goes without question. There's always someone reading who is willing to put in a bit of legwork & dig around to see if a story is legitimate.

Jackie is my msp and did not have a huge majority (1639) so I think she is definitely on a shoogly peg. Her SNP opponent is quite well known, she writes a column in the local newspaper and is a councillor. I'm feeling pretty confident. I'm not involved in any campaigning but I may do so after the new year.

Absolutely agree, there were some decent lab mp's but sadly they were indeed victims of labours alliance during the ref.

It seems to be impossible to post things that cannot be twisted by the terminally paranoid. They can't recognise the truth anymore.

Ronnie is one Ronnie, two Ronnies are two of them.

elantan is one elantan, two elantans are two of them.

S is one S, two Ss are two of them.

No subliminal message intended, but then if the reader is in whinge mode, then any interpretation to create division will do!
    Union, not Disunion

I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
It's the only way to fly straight.
