Time for a change then. The Lords are unelected.. and the SNP are not so keen on them either. The SNP are the third largest party after all. There should be at least some Scottish representation on it.

However, my point, was that the SNP will make it their point to show that Westminster doesn't work for Scots at every opportunity. I think overall, in the face of what's to come re Human Rights Acts and everything else that may go with it. That Scots voters would like to see some representation on committee's like this one. The SNP.. factually... are making it known they don't have any.

We already have more English MP's that Scottish ones on the Scottish Affairs Committee after all. Fairs, fair. ;)

This is the outcome of voting for a party that gets less than 1 in 20 Britons supporting it. If anything, the SNP is massively overrepresented in the HoC compared with the Lib Dems, UKIP and Greens in particular but even the Tories and Labour as well.

Using the data from Wikipedia on the last election results, it took an average of 25,972 votes to elect an SNP MP, 34,242 to elec a Tory one and 3,881,129 to elect a UKIP one!!!

That's an argument for a PR voting system. Which incidentally, the SNP support. The Human Rights Committee is another argument entirely. There is no Scottish representation on it.

Two days ago English MP's voted to make the Scottish police and fire fighting forces, the only ones in the UK not to be exempt from VAT. They refused to grant an exemption, on the grounds that merging them into one force.. Means 'technically' they aren't locally funded anymore. However, there are several other 'bodies' which fall under the same 'rules' which have been exempted.

The Tories, Labour and the SNP all agreed that the Scottish police force should be merged. Yet now Scottish Tories and Labour are pointing fingers saying the SNP should've known what would happen re VAT. But they're talking mince.
    • The National Crime Agency (covering England and Wales) are able to recover VAT.
Additional recoverable VAT. This was the first full year that the NCA were able to recover VAT Source link.
    • The Police Service of Northern Ireland (funded directly by the NI Government) is able to recover VAT.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland the police can recover the VAT incurred on goods and services purchased to support their non-business activities under section 33. Source link.
    • Academy schools in England (which are fully funded by central government) are able to recover VAT. Source link.
    • The BBC can recover VAT. And it isn't local authority funded.
It's all over the place, not consistent at all and often seemingly spurious. And the upshot of all of this is a VAT bill of £33m for Police Scotland and one of £4m for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
SNP bid to alter VAT status of Police Scotland fails by 277-317.

Scottish Votes for Scottish Laws. Should be next. ;)
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

We’re not like the SNP. This isn’t a party of robots that are given a chip and told what to think.

I'd say that was a pretty good analogy. I imagine Nicola Sturgeon issuing software patches on a daily basis to the faithful - a bit like Microsoft Update but for nationalists.

Kezia is on Question Time tonight. Hopefully she'll have something a bit less vacuous to say than all SNP members ( including her dad ) are Cybermen.. oh I mean, Cybernats lol. :)
