    don't be silly

    the electoral commission is
-not comprised entirely of SNP acolytes
-the report was not drafted by either Alex or Nicola
-has not been approved by independent observers like Putin

    Don't be rude.

I never said it was an SNP front.

The independence referendum was organised to a high standard according to a new report by the Electoral Commission has stated.

Mind you ...... Blah blah blah ...... But then who's perfect? Apart from the SNP of course.

    Of course...
Yesterday, a Crown Office spokesman said: "We can confirm that Crown counsel has instructed Police Scotland to commence an investigation into alleged breaches of Schedule 7, Paragraph 7, of the Scottish Independence Referendum Act 2013."
Video footage of Ms Davidson talking about the ballot viewing was forwarded to both the police and the Electoral Commission.
In televised coverage she says: "Postal votes are going to be enormously important in this campaign; about 18 per cent of the vote is going to come out of postal ballots and we have had people at every sample opening, around the country, over the last few weeks, while that's been coming in. And we've been incredibly encouraged by the results."

Later, referring to postal ballots, she said: "Different local authorities have had openings around the country", adding, "there's people in the room that have been sampling those ballot boxes that have been opened and have been taking tallies and the reports have been very positive for us".
Political agents and campaigners are allowed to oversee the postal vote opening sessions, where checks are made to verify the signatures and dates of birth on postal voting statements against computerised records.

However, Elections Scotland instructions on postal votes state that it is "an offence for anyone attending the opening of postal votes to attempt to ascertain how any vote has been cast or to communicate any such information obtained"
    .
On Tuesday it emerged that the Electoral Commission was looking to change the code of conduct for political campaigners in order to prevent them from handling any completed postal votes.

Lets hope they do. Anyway, enough on this subject now for me. It's getting repetitive and way off topic.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Shakey, I think you would probably agree that there is a difference between there being improvements in a voting system and it being "rigged". I can easily subscribe to the former maybe being the case but not the latter with its implication that the referendum result was in some way false. I'm not saying that what you claimed, but the original use of the word "rigged" was ill-advised I think.

As usual, STD provides several links to things that conclusively prove. .....nothing.

The referendum wasn't rigged. I wonder who M15 are.

Aaaaargh lol ! I didn't suggest the the referendum was rigged. Quote me where I did if you please. I said that was the wrong word to use.

I said there were 'oddities' with the postal votes. Of which there have been questions raised before in several elections. And that Ruth Davidson sowed doubts with her faux pas on 'vote sampling'. There shouldn't be any doubts sowed in any election if it's to be seen as straight down the line... and certainly not police investigations into groups ( BetterTogether) breaking electoral code.

As for my one typo... seriously ? Just how bored are you Generali ? Go and have a breather mate and get a grip. (I was just off 2 hours of double unders/power cleans and deadlifts metcon and strength training .. think my blood sugars were low. So I can just about live with a 1 instead of an I).

I think you're just annoyed about that last poll to be honest. What unionist wouldn't be. ;)

It wasn't myself that used the word 'rigged' string. If you'd actually bothered to fully read the posts you'd have seen that.

I'll await your apology ( won't hold breath though ).. And it was voting improvements, and the doubts they sow when the system isn't 'seen' as working properly that I was addressing. The same as you were.

Anyway, this thread is just getting into personal insults and whining about typos now it seems...the end is nigh.. :)

Nope, there is still room for discussion when nice Mr Swinney finally announces how he is going to use his new powers. Eg tax raising , council tax replacement, and new additional freebies. His days of pinching millions from other budgets to keep SNPs popularity bubble going , are over I think.

Not to mention the innovative policies and changes , the Sturgeon has recently proudly promised. Which every world economy is eagerly awaiting to learn from. Policies which enable the Sturgeon to grow the onshore economy to cover all SNPs existing populist spending policies, along with her many new promised ones. While maintaining And/or improving our recognised higher geographical iservice costs.

Would be a shame to stop now, just when things might finally get interesting. Shortly we should finally discover whether SNP actually have any innovative ideas or policies, or whether it's all just been more pig in a poke SNP rhetoric.

Stop being paranoid Shakey, you should have noticed that I wrote that I was not stating that you had claimed the vote was rigged. I also wrote that I thought you would agree with what I saying

I also agree that there are too many personal insults, specifically that they go beyond the convention of trashing opinion. For example I thought the use of the word "vile" to describe the nice Mumof2 was beyond that convention' as was the use of f*****g a few pages ago (for balance); and just to be sure you don't misread that, no --- I am not claiming that you used those words.

So I won't apologise for something I did not write. So I'm glad you are still breathing, albeit fire and brimstone.

The articles claimed that was the case. Until they do that is just speculation.

Well it's fact now. Tory rebels did indeed vote with Labour and the SNP. So perhaps I wasn't certifiable after all.
David Cameron has been defeated in the House of Commons for the first time as a majority Conservative Prime Minister, losing a vote on the purdah rules for the EU referendum 312 to 285, majority 27.

Oh I'm up for debating those... as soon as you list a few specifics. I haven't yet heard any concrete tax/economic announcements as yet. And I did look ( nothing apart from Nicola's 'overall' speech the other day, the rest are just the SNP 'could' and 'may' stories ).

Why don't you list a few actual specifics and link to an article or two for info, rather than just cite vague hand wavy stuff and we can talk about them then ? The SNP will be damned if they do, and damned if they don't in a lot of things. Media wise anyway. But I for one am happy to debate them with you. No probs. :)
