Often, especially with a zig zag offence, it can take some time, because you need to speak to the driver who may not be there. If there are other priorities, it may be inappropriate to deal with such an offence.

Quick insurance check and a #DL takes ages.

They need two peices of evidence to take someone to court...

    Why? Was this in Scotland?

Scottish law requires corroboration not two pieces of evidence. That means evidence from two different and independent sources. Unless the single source is considered to be an expert witness.

Unless I've missed something, there's been no suggestion that the accident took place in Scotland.

If it did, the discussion about the CPS was even more of a waste of time.;)

Exactly so why did you mention Scotland?

Don't pretend you don't know there's a very high percentage of wasters and lazy barstewards.

You'll lose all credibility if you claim you've never seen it.

All I've said is that Tilt told an anecdote to support his argument, without possibly knowing that his conclusion (officer laziness/lack of interest) was a valid one.

Of course I see officers who could do more. Each office has its office cat. It's the same in every profession. But very high percentage!?? If by that you mean 5 to 10% I'll go with that.

In the recent tranche of staff cuts, wage cuts and salary erosion, I'm surprised, from my own experience, that the morale is not at gutter level. Perhaps the largely rural nature of our force means that an organised voice of dissent is not so apparent as in the metropolitan forces.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

I'm surprised you think it isn't.

Because someone else wrote "They need two peices of evidence to take someone to court".

    AFAIK that's not the case in E & W.
