I know, but what I meant was as aah is consuming around 50 units a week, that makes it an average of 7 a day. Now I don't know if it is evened out over the week, or all in a couple of binges, in which case my theory is blown.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Meanwhile anyone who drinks a lot should make sure they top up their vitamin B1 levels so as to reduce long term damage

i went to my gp few weeks ago, was already seeing him for depression, and when i mentioned my drinking he refered me to an alcohol service, that is run locally., i have my second appointment on monday, so far this is my 4th night of not drinking. i crave it real bad and the only way i can stop myself is by not having any in the house

Have you got some nice soft drinks in instead? That has done the trick for me. Tesco's St Clements is lovely, a bit fizzy but not too sweet. Also plain Ginger Ale makes a nice change. I don't feel deprived, as I am still "having a drink", but now it is not going to wreck my liver.

  • Good god I am amazed at this revelation to contact DVLA. I have never heard of it before. I was going to tell you to please please please go to an AA meeting. You will be amazed at the stories there and what people have been through and come out the other side. I go to get support for a family member that is a drinker but does not go to AA. I am an alanon member and it has brought me so much solitude and peace. They keep reiterating if you do not take the first drink then you will certainly never take the second drink. The support for each other there is phenomenal. You can phone someone there 24/7 when you feel like drinking and they will talk you through it. They do it because someone has done it for them once. Tears stream down my face at each meeting and their honesty at where they were. I haven't been going long. AA members will help you through the DVLA thing too I am sure because if you do not take that first drink then let them test you. Chin up come on this too will pass and one day at a time. You will get through it. Hugs Taffy

here is a thread about the licence revocation stuff. Its fact. I wish I had never gone.

I am trying to do 75% of normal consumption, and even that is hard. Can't wait for the referral to come through...

Friend of mine decided to give up cigs as well at the same time for mutual support reasons - now I feel as though I've gotta support him too as well as me.

Sorry for being selfish, its a bit tough

    A.
By the way 50 units were evenly spread, like yours I think

Well done for getting this far and do as bogof babe has said - keep the fridge full of soft drinks or as in my case - loads of jars of coffee in. And get the choccie out, the sticky puddings - all that other stuff thats " bad" for us - make sure you have all you other favourite treats to hand - weight gain can be tackled another day. For now you need to keep yourself safe and comforted.

IT DOES GET EASIER i swear it does, when is different for all of us. I still dont have drink in the house after all this time as now and then when things are getting really tough I still have "need" to go get bladdered - thankfully Ive not yet acted on it. Those moments arent as often as they were in the beginning but i still get them and they are a lot easier to ride out then they were
