The last warm air conversion I did was admittedly about 3 years ago

Have prices not went up since then?

I used to get a bag of chips for 3 old pennies in 1950.

It depends. In some cases prices have gone down since then. It depends on the nature/affluence of the area you work in and the competition. Anyway, his ball park figures are as close as anybody needs to judge whether a quote is high or within an acceptable range. On that basis the quote is not unreasonable for the likely work required.

The main cost is the fitters time. Therefore do most of it yourself using push fit its easy. Plan were the pipes are going, the best place to hang the rads etc., and get the boiler put first as that room (the kitchen) can be used as the living area whilst the rest of the house is cold.

If I were to do the same job again next week the price would be the same.

That quote seems not too unreasonable. We paid £6.5k for a similar full system installation back in late 2013, albeit that did include supply & fit of a water softener and running a new gas line too.
