Eon MSE Collective switch

Well my switch finally went through 11 & 23rd Dec. Still waiting for my money back from SSE though have had the final statements. The switch has been a shambles and involved several phone calls at my expense and now they don't want to take any money. (most unusual for an energy supplier)
Eon have set up the dd but not taking any payments until 1st Feb. I have asked them to take a payment in January but they have not. This means they will increase the DD to catch up.

I decided to log onto energy club to look at another switch but it says I have a switch still in progress. Is this because EON have yet to inform MSE the switch has completed? Or do I have to tell MSE. If so how?

I actually got an email from MSE/CEC about 18 days after the second utility was switched - don't know if it was coincidence but it was the same day as I received an email from EON to say that everything had now completed. The switching money bonus went into the bank exactly 7 days later.
  • Many thanks Brewerdave.
I have not had an email from Eon saying the switch is complete. I only know because I logged on to my account. It has only been 15 days since the second utility completed so I will give it a bit longer.

Am in exactly the same position as regards the DD, and not wanting Eon to increase it, I today made a one off payment to put my debit to zero. It will take up to 3 days to show on my account so due to the problems encountered switching to Eon I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Don't know if I've done the right thing ..........we'll see

It's been 21 days since our second utility (gas) was switched to E.ON, making the switch "complete". I was asked for meter readings for the first bill, which was done, and the first bill (for both utilities) was issued on 05-Jan.

Have been receiving emails from E.ON regularly with regards to meter reading, DD payment, customer panel, online billing etc., but never received one to formally state "the switch is now complete".

And, CEC still shows "switch in progress"

Brewerdave, if I may ask - did you switch to a plan wherein E.ON was paying the cashback or CEC? My CEC account says that £30 cashback will be issued 3 months after switching. Not sure who will be paying this - E.ON or CEC!

Hi Bobstheword and welcome to the Forums.

Glad your switch has gone through and sorry about the delays. You'll now have a full 12 months on this tariff for both fuels. One will finish on 10 December 15 and the other on 22 December 15. We'll be in touch before this to let you know your options once the tariff ends.

I suspect the delay sorting this out means we were too late to take January's payment as we need a certain amount of time to set up the arrangement. You mention asking us to take a payment in January. Was this a one off Direct Debit? If it was, this usually goes through a few days after the request, possibly a bit longer where the arrangement's only just been set up.

Might be an idea to check this is going through. If not, you can do as vector has done if you wish and make a one off payment to cover the shortfall. You can do this online or by phoning us with a credit/debit card.

Thought I'd mention a facility on our website that gives you more control over the monthly payments. It's the Direct Debit Manager and lets you alter payments. Comes in handy should circumstances change.

Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings.

Before putting the change through we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit if the new amount is confirmed but usage doesn't alter accordingly.

Can't help too much with the MSE/CEC part Bobstheword. I'd try MSE Dan L on this at the link below.

Sorry again for the delays but hope this is of interest.

    Hi vector

Just posted a bit of information in reply to Bobstheword (post 6 above) that might be of interest. It's about the Direct Debit Manager.

Provided you've registered with our website you, too, can use this to take more control of your monthly payments.

    Hope this is helps.

..my switching bonus was paid by CEC; it was labelled as "Energyclubcshbk - energy cashback" on the online bank statement. If I remember rightly, the original blurb from CEC said that the cash back could take up to 3 months after switch to process. In my case, 26 days after 2nd utility switched :)
  • Hi Malc. Many thanks for your help. I checked my online bank account and it shows the DD is still set for 1st Feb. I have logged onto my e.on account and made a card payment through the site. I will check back in 3 working days to check it is there.

Thanks for the link. I will wait a bit longer for the cash back and if not will follow that up too.

You're welcome Bobstheword. Glad to help.

3 working days should be plenty of time for the payment to show on your online account.

    Have a great weekend.

This has been a massive hassle and still not sorted. Trying to switch from Ovo to Eon. Started the switch on 5th November. Switch has been stopped 3 times causing lots of annoying phone calls to both companies. Am now told it won't switch over until nearly February, how can it possibly take this long?
