You could argue that a valuation is just that, an estimate of value. A survey is as assessment of the property and it's condition.
In practice both words are used and substituted for one another - it therefore worth being clear if you require something more to be considered than just a view on value for mortgage purposes.I am a Mortgage Broker

I have had exactly the same happen with British gas, reading your post is giving me a bit of hope for Monday's meeting with the broker as I have already called Nationwide and they said that I meet their affordability criteria but I didn't proceed any further as I was scared about the defaults on my file.
Its refreshing to see that people are getting mortgages with defaults and it is possible.0 -
Let me no how you get on littlelost. I have my nationwide DIP monday aswell.0

Im keeping my fingers crossed....The whole thing has been really stressing me out TBH!! I called the nationwide today to check affordability as I was really worried since my income is made up of salary + bonus. They did an affordability check which was find however I just need to get through the credit search.
We have 4 defaults between the two of us (one being the same British gas account that was registered on both of our files) all defaults were registered between 2009 - 2011 and are all now satisfied (most recent being last year)
The largest default was for £100 with British gas but we also have issues with an old DMP still showing on the credit report.
I will keep you updated but my main concern initially was affordability.....
This house buying lark is sooooo stressful!!0 -
Tell me about it. I rang halifax today for AIP and they gave me a grade c. So i had to find another 10% Deposit. Maximum they would give me was a 65% LTV.
I have no debt. No ccjs. I have 1 default but that falls off saturday night. And one missed payment in the 2013. My credit expert score says 979 excellent. And halifax wouldnt touch me
hopefully nationwide are more leniant 0 -
Do you think the default will actually drop off Sunday night? I only ask as the last dodgy account that I have that shows a history of late payments is due to drop off on the 31st and I wasn't too sure if it would take a couple of days to show, hence the reason why I am waiting until Monday to get the DIP.
I hope they automatically come off on the day, any idea?0 -
My default falls off 31st and 100% will be off sunday morning. I only no because i had a default in september which done the same0
