The couple who semed to know what thy were doing were the couple who got thier dog from Battersea.
Peoplle sriticise rescues for checkong out homes and refusing to rehome to homes with chldren, insecure gardens ( puppy who climbed through fence) etc.
Maybe if the so called breeders of these pups had done some homework on the prospective buyers of their pups htings would have been different.
I feel really upset for these pups.0 -
I'm a novice dog owner and we've got ours through to 9 months without many problems with a bit of common sense and some reading beforehand. I was sitting there *cringing* at poor Byron and that clueless woman and the large boisterous pup bought for a boy who showed NO interest and noone was keeping an eye on it0

Catching up with it now as we speak....0

There's obviously a degree of selective editing going on - I'm fairly sure collie boy's dad wouldn't have been any where near as hands off as the programme implied. I just kept thinking if these are people who really want a dog, how much worse might it be for people who get a pup without a second thought. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I am not an expert with dogs but I know with Weimaraner, they are a constant force of nature. They need constant stimulation, mentally and physically. However, I cannot understand why she got the dog and just left it unattended and expected the boy to train it! Dogs like them you have to keep your eye on. I was on edge when he was milling and sniffing the floor alot, every dog owner knows what that means when a dog does that! Even my dog, at 4 years old, I have to keep my eye on and ask him "What are you up to??" If he is out of sight in the house!!
I know the pups are cute, but alot of the owners did not have an authorative tone of voice so the dogs will think it is play. The little one, can't remember it's name, belonging to the blonde lady, well, I always encounter little dogs like him barking at and trying to go for my dog when I take mine on walks. Luckily, in the early days, I gave my dog a simple verbal command and he knew to ignore the yapper and continue walking. Now, if a toy dog tries his luck with mine, my dog ignores it, without a command from me. My dog is of a similar build to the Rottie Mastiff cross if it was fully grown.
My current dog is our first dog and we were inexperienced when it comes to dogs, they say our dog is not for beginners but we were persistent and consistent with training. We didn't need dog trainers or puppy schools. He is well socialised and just sniffs the nether regions of another dog and the other dog tends to dominate. Dogs do need to know who is in charge. I don't get why people talk or treat their dogs like they are babies or children. They need an alpha leader of the pack.0 -

The owner of Stan, in tonight's episode stated that there is a void in your life if you do not have kids. Well, I must be rendered useless then because I do not want kids! Maybe she feels a void, but I certainly do not! She should not assume and think that every couple wants kids and serve no purpose if they choose not to pop out offspring! :mad:0

Byron's owner, Jane must have a swinging brick for a heart. She said she will not miss her dog when she goes on holiday. The poor thing missed her when she went off. She should give the dog to someone who will actually love the animal and not treat it like something excreted from the digestive tract!0

I'm sticking with it for the seriously cute rottie mastiff cross. He's gorgeous. And there are some sensible owners and good advice going on now as well.
Can you see any Neapolitan mastiff in that dog? I can't see it in either Stan or his litter mate. He is a cutie though

I was horrified by her comments, saying she thought he wouldn't notice any difference when the whole family was on holiday. Poor little thing, let's hope her mum keeps him.0
