You could ask to be referred to a pain clinic where they specialise in relieving pain

Thats the other problem I have I'm on thyroxine and am on atenolol which is a beta blocker, so the gp needs to be careful what pain relief I can have!!

Yes, Im on a beta blocker too, but the doctor says that feldene is fine (voltarol gel can be used but its not as good as feldene) However, Voltarol tablets and any Ibruprufen is a big no. no.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Maybe it would be useful to ask your GP for a referral to a rheumatologist who can then do a wider range of tests, etc and get to the bottom of all your pains. I have fibromyalgia diagnosed by a very thorough rheumatologist, bloody awful illness it is too, I feel your pain:)

Thanks, its painful just sitting here!! xx
  • My blood results came back today all as normal.

However, am still in pain with my feet and arm.

I've managed to get an earlier appointment for Monday afternoon.

I will ask the gp to send me to either a pain clinic or rhumatologist.

My feet, and especially my left foot, are in constant agony.

I've been told on many occassions my symptoms match fibromyalgia.

I just hope the gp agree to refer me, I really cannot put with the pain any more, its agony to walk most of the time!!

You need to make it clear to your GP how bad you are finding it. He can only go on what you tell him and how bad you feel.

Hospitals use a scale of 1-10 for pain with 10 being the worst pain for you- everybody has differnt pain levels.

So tell him where on a scale from 1-10 your pain level falls.

Tell him all the things you cannot do or find difficult on a daily basis.

Write it down if you think you will forget when you get there.

As I understand it fibromyalgia is diagnosed by eliminating other conditions rather than by its symptoms alone.

Hey, the pain clinic that I have been to is fantastic. They have managed to get my constant pain totally under control with a mix of drugs.
Unfortunately as everyone knows, if you have care needs/mobility problems that are caused by pain and you then have medication that resolves that pain, then you are deemed by the DWP not to have any care/mobility problems. Your problems are under control.

Poor circulation such as Raynaulds can be detected by a blood test. Worth asking about if your fingers and toes go white and numb.

Hey is that condition the same as Peripheral Arterial Disease? Causes extreme pain in both legs which go white and cold to touch?
I have that but the DWP state that it is not severe enough to warrant any disability benefit.
