I've been thinking about this - would people prefer to continue with this thread (it's not massively long yet) or start a new thread with an intro post and then (maybe) post 2 kept to add useful links to (eg: KM blogs, the KM category list etc) - to be updated as these links etc are found?

Just putting the idea out there.....

  • I'm happy with either, if we keep this one would it be poss to add /2016 to the title to avoid confusion.
Equally as long as there's a link to the new one put in here I'll happily move to it.

  • I only jumped in part way through, I didn't realise the original thread began at New Year. For me, it's just all about MK (with a few digressions!) not date-related so I'm inclined to just carry on with this thread. If it moves to a new one I'll scurry over there though, I enjoy the discussions and encouragement in here so much!

I'd love to know if the OP ever finished her Kondo journey, she didn't post much after starting this all off.

Happy to go with the majority decision for the New Year as long as it continues!

  • Me too! Although I think a new one could be good as new people might be put off by the size of this thread? Just a thought?

I have found it a very long job to read a whole year's worth, though enjoyable. Maybe a new thread might encourage new Konverts, especially at the time of all the post Christmas clutter, surrounded by things other people thought they would like, dreaming of the joy they might have had with the gift they didn't get.

I've only been doing this for a month or two and my mindset has completely changed from 'putting up with' to realising that things can be changed and 'good enough for the time being' isn't good enough at all. Which of us would have dreamed a year ago how happy it would make us to release so many of our possessions to give someone else joy? Or to make a really big decision based on whether our home, our job or a close relationship was giving us us joy?

I'm loving the feeling of peace in my home and in my heart, and I have made some big decisions, although I haven't even finished paperwork yet. But I do have colour coded drawers :D

I'm a great believer in new threads for a new year, with lovely links to all the hints & tips.

I love the idea of KM category links...being able to click directly to a specific KM area (e.g. clothes, books etc) would save so much time!
    thanks for the idea!

I think a new thread for the New Year would be nice, then new members can catch up with the original one at their leisure rather than feeling they must read it all before they can post :)
  • Hi all,

I recently bought the book and in the first 3 chapters (as far as I have got, so far), it is as though MK is talking to me and is in my head!

We haven't got lots of clutter, but there are lots of things that don't have a home, or we don't use. Hubby is one of those who likes to keep things just in case, but over the last year I have managed to get him to get rid of a few things.

2016 is the year we get in order, I have always been de-cluttering/organising, but I would like to get to the point where I only need to organise things once in a while, not every week as things haven't been put back where they were etc.

I have followed this thread over the last 6 months and read blogs about MK and how it has helped, hence buying the book and already am inspired to try this way, not that I will be talking to my handbag, nor emptying it every night. I don't have a huge bag and only have the essentials in it any way.

Now to get the Xmas decs in the loft!
