  • Jo4 huge hugs.

Hi mrklunk, I'm impressed you got rid of your motorbike maybe you can tell me how to get OH and DS to thin down their collection of 9 that are in the garage!

I still haven't done the cupboard under the stairs but hopefully we are having a quiet Sunday so will get it done then :).
I also forgot about a room, I know strange to forget about a whole room, but it's the conservatory which is the man cave...bits over flowing from the garage and games consoles etc. I would really like to have it cleared so it's nice like the rest of the house but it's not my stuff in there so I might just make do with closing the curtain so I can't see in there whilst gently suggesting to OH how nice it would be to be able to sit in what's just a pretty expensive she'd just now!

Morning all - just caught up with the posts. Huge hugs Jo4 - we know our furry friends won't be with us forever but it hurts when they go. Holly was loved all her life so please take comfort in that.
GQ - got a tea stain on the duvet now & only changed on Monday! DH wondering what caused the splutter - it loses something in translation from his puzzled expression :)
I've a confession to make dear sisters & brother. I've bought 2 small sets of green fairy lights to decorate the two conifers outside my front door and 3 battery candle lights from Aldee last night. I like the look of candles but having real ones lit gives me the willies! Both of these purchases give me great. Joy but won't be used until the week before Christmas - although the candles would look good on top of the fire when it's not lit........,..;)
Have a good day all x

Jo4, I'm so sorry to hear of your news about your lovely dog Holly, it's a heartbreaking position to be in, I know, but I'm sure you did what's best. You fight for them, you fight for their life, but when the downward drift becomes unstoppable, you have to let them go.

    Thinking of you.

Nice to have the male point of view mrlunk.

Well done everyone on the photos - another of my 'winter projects' - been on the list for several years but with MK could finally 'get round to it'.

    Cheers.

Morning all. Mavvy you can't have any more clothes to throw out, surely!

I'm assuming you mean interior decorating, not Christmas lights? I'm almost looking forward to doing that now - knowing that clearing a room out will be so much easier, I won't be distracted by discovering things I'd lost or sorting stuff out, and as Dragonette says it's somehow easier to see what the room needs. I'll probably feel differently that when I'm up to my arms in emulsion!

It's a change for me though - I've never really bothered about colours etc but it's as if I can see the rooms now without the 'noise'.

Polly yes I mean paint and rollers and brushes and all that type stuff :rotfl:No lights to put up I kondoed all the Christmas stuff sometime in Springtime ;)
Sadly I do have enough clothes left to 'Keep calm and carry on kondoing' :rotfl:But I am getting there :D

Prints arrived they are stunning I am so happy with them will visit the framer later :D They are joyful and the Colours are so vivid :)

Cant wait to hang them up on the bare walls where the not so joyful ones have been removed to the Chazzer :D

  • Thanks - so I'm the only man on here? Eeek.

Most landlords say male tenants are actually cleaner and tidier than female tenants so maybe less requirements?

My 20 year old daughters room is such a mess I thought someone broke in? She seems to like living in chaos. Whereas I intend moving towards total simplicity. I feel lighter and freer just visualising it :)

Wow stumbled on this thread after having had a 'episode' in Ikea few weeks back. in there with OH gone for who knows what, trapesing round with the blue bag when we were having a discussion about whatever item and I just went silent it was like a lightbulb moment. " Its just stuff, STUFF, I have a house full of bloody stuff I cant bloody control and here I am mindlessly buying more stuff to contain the too much bloody stuff we have. I've had enough of stuff and and not buying anymore stuff again!" put bag down left with nothing but a hotdog and coffee. Since then I've been gutting a cupboard or shelf a day, sorting a wardrobe and feeling chirpier by the day. I have a large Victorian 3 storey so storage isnt really an issue, hence why I get everyone else's stuff to 'hold'. well enough, I didn't buy my dream home is to live like this. I envisaged space and style :)) ( too many Home Living magazines ) freedom if you like to live the life I wanted. tbh its been a trap for years now i have often felt guilty even going out for nice things as the voices in my head know i should be spending my time dealing with STUFF! lol ordered book from Amazon and cant wait for a schedule to follow. mean time I shall be following this thread. Excited:))

You may remember I posted a few weeks ago that our dog wasn't well so I thought I should give an update?!?! Our dog, Holly, passed this afternoon at 15:40.:cry::cry::cry:

    Sorry to read that.xxx
  • Welcome, chezmck - it's a great feeling when you suddenly realise you don't need all the Stuff you've been collecting, buying, longing for, storing, moving, insuring and tripping over for years! I'm definitely not a minimalist but this process (and this thread!) have completely changedthe way I live and life is so much simpler.

Mrklunk, you may not be the only man on here, after all on the internet you can be anything you like, but evidence suggests everyone else on here is female. It'll be interesting to get a male perspective on it, and there might be some men lurking who'll put their hands up. Don't know about the male/female tenants - I've known men who are obsessively tidy and others who are complete slobs.
