I have Kondo'd my sports and walking gear. I have kept a scruffy soft cotton pair of bottoms because I associate them with comfort when I am poorly. I suppose that counts as bringing me joy:think:
Waterproof walking trousers are such a pain to store because the fabric is so slippy they don't stay folded. I tried ranger rolling them but what seems to work best is samosa-ing them.
The rest is gone! with a little thank you, of courseIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Ooh I hadn't thought of samosa-ing my walking trousers, I'll try that tonight, thanks
Someone was asking for pictures of Kondoed stuff - I've put some on Flickr here:

Just remembered to,thank the person who came up with samosa-ing tights. I will definitely give that a go.
Just managed to track down another charity shop to take away some furniture - fingers crossed they will pick it up tomorrow so this afternoon I will do a bit more Kondoing and they can have a couple of boxes of miscellaneous stuff as well.
I can feel the house starting to breathe.:rotfl:0 -

GQ, definitely wasn't suggesting you sneered at the blue and yellow box. Apologies if it sounded that way.
A little while ago I read an article that said that Ik*a is responsible for something like 1/5th of the world's timber 'consumption'. That statistic could well be wrong, but it was some significant proportion and it horrified me. When they changed the design of the big cube shelves (Exped!t- much loved by vinyl record owners) they reduced the width of the outside walls by a centimetre to make some huge saving on the materials needed.
Wish I could remember where I read it so I could link the article.
What amuses me greatly is when you have a snoop on Rightmove at some of these ridiculous houses and flats in London, particularly refurbs. Extortionately priced, but modelled with Ik*a furniture - a 'fur coat, no knickers' approach to interior design!
My very small contribution to decluttering today is throwing out a pen and pencil. I love the feel of the pen (an advertising freebie) but it is held together with sellotape. Time to thank it and move on. The pencil is one of those stacking pencils with the individual leads, they're nearly all flat now so hardly useable. Loved them as a kid. I had this last year and it was a nightmare, but slowly and surely I got rid of quite allot of stuff and kept the pieces that mean allot.
I have mentioned on two other threads about the extent of what I have got rid of this morning - been quite an empowering experience - but I am ashamed at the money that has gone out of the door and into the boot of my car for the charity shop.
I am slowly starting to realise at the end of the day it's just stuff, stuff that has accumulated over a period of time, but stuff that I need to deal with and notably my purse and bank balance will be more beneficial for it.
Its a beautiful sunny day here today in Northumberland, two big black bin bags full has gone out into the main bin for emptying tomorrow. The place does feel better for this blitz. I don't hoard to a huge extent, but my wardrobes are fairly full. Thing is last year when I got rid of loads I can't even remember what went out now and I certainly don't miss it.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
