Just catching up with a few days of posts. Thank you to the person who put up the zero waste home site, I've been doing some reading and bookmarked it for later.
Over here, the boyfriend headed off to Singapore yesterday. I have 16 nights and rather than moping around, I'm secretly excited to get some kondo'ing done in peace. I'm committed to 6 days/wk at the gym and getting something out of the house every day. Losing body plus 'stuff' weight!
We missed a summer holiday this year due to my BCC (skin cancer) uncertainly so am looking forward to a quick trip out to Tenerife in November. As we don't have to worry about school holidays and can align work schedules, we were able to get a good package deal.
Some spare books went out to the gym bookshelf today and another carrier bag is slowly being filled for the charity shop.
A little annoyed, I had a box of pyrex on ebay, it sold last Wednesday to someone in Liverpool, I live in Essex, and had listed as collection only. I sent an invoice, it wasn't paid. I put in a non-payment, in particular due to the distance, and after non-payment it reached the time and I closed the case. Not 30 min later the person says sorry she was away and she cannot find the payment button.
So I either decline the whole sale or fess up that I closed it or claim ignorance that it was closed. I am reminded why it's more joyful to give to the charity shops!
Siebrie - I am the same on extra body lotion. I've found friends in offices seem to be able to use it as hand lotion plus my gym also will take it for the ladies loo sinks, not sure if you have equivalents.
Hope all you 'mins' folks are doing well with the later days! Enjoying to read what you've been finding and inspiring me to do more. :T0 -

Thanks! I was unwell overnight so poor hubby got up with me, he wouldn't sleep again until I was back in bed.
Although I haven't been feeling great I went and collected my medication from the chemist, got my fringe cut (I am trying to grow it at the mo) and then got my photo taken because my driving license is due for renewal. Not much done today either but at least I got something done. I was delighted to get the bags out of the car and hubby said the charity shop were delighted with the things and thanked him very much.
I hope you are enjoying your birthday and that you will not have much to Kondo!! :bdaycake:0 -

Bless you. I can also be a bossy, opinionated and self-righteous daughter, so don't be sizing me up for a halo just yet, lol.
I'm so pleased that the very stressy brickwall won't-deal-with-this-situation (won't even discuss it) has abated somewhat that I'm going to go above and beyond the call of duty to make things happen. I have been easing her into decluttering for the longest time, in baby steps, but this is epic.
Dad remarked about saved Stuff earlier this week When you're younger, you tend to keep stuff because you might need it and then you get older and your realise you have less future and if you haven't needed this stuff in the past thirty or forty years, when are you going to need it?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm sure he'd love to dress as a Pirate during the day but we're just wearing fancy dress for a Halloween evening at the club. hope he's brought a face mask, the air quality is appalling and my sinuses are really suffering
There is a constant haze and, whilst still warm, (it's always warm), the sun is barely visible. For once I am looking forward to cooler, fresher Britain. Leaving tomorrow night.
Anyone else want to go and help GQ with the loft??
Moves are afoot to Kondo the job  had a Skype interview yesterday for a full time PhD, something I have wanted to do for the longest time and, at 51, it's kind of now or never. Will have to have a big think and a chat with the OH when I get home to make sure I really want to commit the next three years to it - assuming I am offered it, which isn't a given. I got a right grilling....
Glad to see such excellent progress is being made. I am loving the starkness of this hotel room and my small case full of stuff. I have kondoed a blouse which had some small damage on it, and which I decided I didn't like anyway. Thanked it for showing me that that particular collar shape doesn't suit me and thanked it for being the one that got damaged, rather than one I like:T and binned it.
As I thought, I have n it needed all of even the small amount of stuff I have brought with me. There are at least three things I haven't worn....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I won't use all the stuff I packed either VJ's mum... although I had rather more than you. I also had the usual problem of not having a suitcase quite the right size. I can manage two weeks with this one - but the smaller ones are too small for a 3 day trip (well, three days of work, two days of travelling) so I brought more than I needed and even with that it was all rattling around a bit. Clearly I need another in-between size suitcase!
Air quality here is supposedly good, but my breathing is terrible. Possibly all the aircon on top of existing iron deficiency. And the iron deficiency plus tiredness/jet lag is causing lots of odd aches and pains. It'll be nice to get home at the weekend... I have a whole week before I turn around and come back again
I have, however, done a LOT of walking today. The city is incredibly hilly and somewhat challenging for me. I've seen quite a few of the major landmarks while getting some fresh air and exercise. I love wandering round new cities and seeing how people live rather than feeling I have to tick off a sight-seeing list!
Now I need to go and find some food and try to get some sleep!0 -

:rotfl:thanks for explaining. I don't really do Halloween, in fact I usually spend the evening on the sofa with the lights out and the TV volume turned down low, so nobody knocks at the door!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Why too much choice is stressing us out | Life and style | The Guardian
I'm not sure if someone posted this yet or not.:)0 -
Ooh Missy - that really resonates with me. For some years I worked next to a large hypermarket but I did my main shopping in the small branch near where I lived simply because I got fed up with so much choice it was overwhelming and I didn't have the time or inclination to go searching for a specific item. I also found that because the hypermarket was so big whole families would stroll the aisles - almost as a day out!
I much prefer a list and a quick whip round!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
VJs mum How fantastic on your PhD I really hope your interview does the trick and you decide to go for it. Or it will be one of those 'What if' times in life if you are offered it. Good luck to you big style.;) and respect.
I would also love to help GQ kondo her parents loft
Yep the white box was lovely but leasehold and the management charge is wait for it £6000 per year  Plus other charges. Not being funny its worse than a Mortgage as it never ever finishes and how much would it be in 5 years timeI dread to think. It did have a gym and a lovely swimming pool and tennis courts :rotfl:for residents to use. But a very expensive one if you ask me
I had read somewhere about the high charges so when I phoned the agent I already had my doubts. Me being me just said on the phone 'I know the charges are high but how high, and he just mumbled the figures and I just laughed and said Thanks.
Being doing some digging about putting this house out as a holiday let I cant believe how much they are going for. Also the average one lets for 40 weeks a year with the popular ones renting for 50 weeks
I love this group of people on here all different all with different challenges and all just getting on with it in the kondo way :T
BTW The baby bunnies grew up into big bunnies and left home.I am sure I have seen one of them in the paddock next door to us which is full of bunnies as he/she had a darker patch in its backI am 100% postive its the same one
Have a very joyful day all
