Not tempted to acquire or hoard more but must remember to take the bag for life bags out with me more, I never turn down a free carrier bag as I use them for eldest son and Dh lunch/ pack up. And I use them as bin bags instead of buying specific bags for purpose.
I'll ask market we get fruit and veg from for a box before I pay for a bag and I'd sooner fill the back of the landy from the trolley and unpack again at the house rather than buying loads of bags if I forget the bagforlife bags when I shop.
GQ im the same with wool, it used to have to be a very small piece before I would throw a length of it away, I do knit the instant smoothie hats and prem baby hats so they take very small amounts.
I do have what I call an ORT jar. (Old raggedy ends) I fill it up over the year and it makes a pretty display of the different colour cross stitch I've worked on, but in the spring when I start a new one it goes out and the local birds have pretty coloured nest filler to line their twiggy little homes with.SPC~12 ot 124

Jo4 - sending more positive thoughts your way. I agree with your mum, go to your appointment. Putting it off will do no good to you or your mum and once it's over with, you can have a nice little celebration at the weekend. Take care xxx0

Don't people get defensive when you tell them what you've chucked?
My cleaner (:o) was horrified that i'd thrown the wedding cards and got v. defensive about keeping hers. She is loving the newly decluttered surfaces, mind, and says she can really see the difference now.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I have been tempted by free carrier bags GQ as we use them for rubbish bags and I wrap my bread in them to put in the freezer but have managed to resist so far.....;)
Jo4 - keep your appointment as it will be one less worry for your mum and as everyone has said you can get together over the weekend. Just to add the stent procedure is very 'routine' these days. My DS2 had one fitted last year. You must take care of yourself otherwise you won't be any help to your mum - hugs.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
This was pretty much all from cupboards that I thought were done
I sorted shoes yesterday as I'd found a few pairs that had lost their way. There's no way all my shoes will fit in the bottom of my wardrobe. Two pairs gone (bin and CS) and re-categorised slippers in drawer with nightwear and summer sandals in drawer with sunshine holiday clothes.
I know that a few pairs will probably be untouched next time I sort but I couldn't be any more ruthless yesterday. Is this common?I am grinning at pieces of string, too small to be any possible use.
been tempted to acquire and hoard extra plastic carrier bags?
I've been through that when I sorted ribbon and felt pieces. I chose an arbitrary useful size and everything smaller than that went in the bin unless it was the only piece of that colour.I have been tempted by free carrier bags GQ as we use them for rubbish bags
I've got an undersink bin that takes carrier bags so I've been accepting bags in recent weeks whether I need them or not knowing I'll reuse them. I need to do some research on carrier bag sized bin liners ASAP. Any ideas?
DH asked this morning if he could have the empty plastic crate I'd freed and use the space in the bedroom cupboard I'd cleared to 'store things'. So he's noticed!! Took the opportunity to tell him that I wasn't clearing space just for him to fill it up with junk and it would be a big improvement if his stuff was inside drawers and cupboards not piled up on the floor!. He promised to be more ruthless;). We'll see.
I think that seeing me doing a bit at a time helps to keep it fresh in his mind.
Not sure what to attack today but determined to fit in something:).0 -
Thank you for all the posts. :A
Mum got a phone call at 7am to say stay at home and contact them at 8am because they didn't know if they could take her. She got a call later to make the hour long journey to hospital and she had her dye test this morning and she doesn't need any stents so she is being discharged at 15:30 today. :j:beer::j:T
I didn't cancel my appointment although I would love to but I know it is best to get it over and done with and hopefully I too will get some good news!!
Mum & Dads washing machine was making funny noises in recent days so a person called to look at it yesterday and they said not to use it again and to get it replaced. Mum has decided she cannot wait on one to be delivered so they are collecting the new washing machine on their way home. Mum is back to normal - she is imessaging to make sure I have the washing machine reserved and that I will be down this evening. :rotfl:0 -
Can I ask a candid question? Have any of you, with the plastic bag charging date bearing down on us on Oct 5th, been tempted to acquire and hoard extra plastic carrier bags?
The plastic bag charge was brought in in Northern Ireland a while ago and I still haven't got rid of all the plastic bags despite using them for rubbish bags instead of buying ones. Every time I place a grocery home delivery order for my parents, granny and us Tesco bring a lot of bags but Asda send very few - possibly why I still have quite a few bags yet. If you get your groceries delivered and pay to have them delivered in plastic bags the plastic bags will soon gather up again.0 -
Min's Game day #23
10 old assignments from OH’s diploma (with his permission)
13 files of course notes from same diploma.
1 submission for Chartered status from 1991 – I think I can let it all go now (after thanking it of course?)
(one and a half drawers of our filing cabinet are now empty – this means that I can put an entire office shelf of files in the cabinet and some of the tat from the floor that OH won’t / we can’t get rid of can now go on the shelves :T
I have also thrown away a random face serum thing that i won in a primary school tombola (bearing in mind DS left primary school 5 years ago)
yes, I know i can't count but may need to carry a couple over as we get into big numbers- though it seems to be getting easier.
I wanna be in the room where it happens0
