  • I change handbags about twice a year - not to match the outfit, just because I want a change. Apart from purse (x 2, as I have one just for coins), phone and keys, I always have a notebook and pen in case I get a work call; business cards; lip salve; tissues; about 33 spare pens, at least it usually feels like that; keys to friend's houses (x2) as I feed their cats if she's away; lipstick; folding shopping bag; and sometimes sunglasses, Kindle or botle of water depending on the day's activities. No wonder I get backache! :rotfl:

I have Ikea wardrobes, and I have an insert which is a sliding shelf; underneath it has a row of hooks, and I hang everyday (costume) jewellery from these, while hair stuff, antiperspirant, perfume etc sits on top - I just slide the shelf out when getting dressed and everything is there. 'Real' jewellery, of which I have hardly any, lives in a box. When I was little I longed for a revolving ballerina but I never got one:( I've just looked for 'my' shelf and they don't seem to do it any more, but for anyone who has Ikea wardrobes, I see they now have a range of shelves with dividers! Maybe MK has influenced their design!

Of course we all talk to ourselves VJ - that's the only way you get a sensible answer!
After the talk of handbags I've realised I have a few that are hardly used so a cull is imminent. I also need to go through the airing cupboard as I have lots of bedding that could find new homes. Job for a rainy day methinks!

    Morning konverts
My Handbag holds just my purse and newly mended sunglasses (incase we get some Sun) and a lip balm. Since KM I do clear the junk out of it every couple of days. I very rarely swap bags and if I do its not hard to swap things over.I am also looking for a nice light fold up shopping bag to stick in there as well. If anyone can recommend one ?

Pouring with rain here so doing the outside jobs I was going to do will have to be moved to a drier day.

Kondoed another pair of shoes yesterday as I loved them but were just a bit tight on the toes so they didnt get past the new charity bag :rotfl:also a shirt which was a bit short on the arms went to join the shoes :D

Wore a pair of Bright Bubble Gum Pink skinny jeans yesterday which I think are brighter than the Orange ones :rotfl:And I really enjoyed wearing them and who cares if I stood out in the crowd;) I did tone them down with a Charcoal Grey top.:D

I think I am winning on the clothes front but it really has taken a long time. But Im left with items that do bring me joy. But if they have some kind of flaw (to me) I will kondo them and not keep them JIC. :rotfl:hence the shoes and shirt going yesterday ;)

    Have a lovely weekend everyone

Trying to get a folding fabric bag in a pouch for clothes shopping as I live in Scotland and we currently are charged 5 pence per carrier bag but the ones that I have looked at all have long handles. I was looking for a small one with short handles. My mum has one that's ideal but it was a gift so don't know where it was purchased. In the meantime I'll just borrow that! :)

Wilkinsons do a black lightweight bag that fastens with a press stud for less than £1 - very durable. I have a cotton bag with long handles in my car with other supermarket bags. I just tied a knot in each handle to make it shorter. My shopping bags are rolled up and stored upright in the boot, in a plastic coated wine carrier bag that in turn sits in a small padded cool bag. Makes it easy to pull out one or two or pick up them all if a big shop.

The Range mirror is great - I have a wall mounted one from IKEA that swings open and have cork boards on the wall behind to hang necklaces and narrow bracelets. I only have a few wider ones stored elsewhere - I know MK would not approve of two locations but that's her problem ;)

Currently reading 'The Book' - not as woo woo as I'd hoped :(

  • Hi everyone,

I use a fold up carrier bag from M&S, it fold up into its own little pouch (I'm also in scotland). I carry it around in my handbag along with my purse, hairbrush, lip balm, phone, keys and a pen. I swap bags every few months, or depending on outfit. Nowadays, though, with a wee bambino, I have a huge changing bag to carry around too. I did make sure to buy one which brought me joy :)

Kondoing here is a long and slow process, dictated by baby's nap times, and only when all other housework is up to date! And it's difficult with an OH who likes to hoard 10 of everything 'just in case'!

    :) Morning all.

I don't like huge bags and favour a the cross-body style of flattish bags. I'm absent-minded at times and wearing a cross-body bag stops me leaving it somewhere. Contents; change purse inc loyalty cards and lib card, wallet, keys, notebook and pen, a hankie, emergency sanpro, meds, folded carrier bag, mobile phone, workplace security pass. No room for anything else; I put a tinted lip balm on before leaving the house and don't need sunnies as my regular glasses have reactions lenses.

My observation of otehr women is that handbag contents expand to fit the cubic capacity of the bag itself, so whatever size you have will be filled. And your in-bag diary can been used to keep a record of the chiropractic appts necessitated by the back strain from carrying it.

I'm also another person who only has one bag at a time, just can't get my head around multiple baggery. I would like to have something more formal, for those occasions where formality is appropriate, as my daily carry is a chirpy colourful cloth f@tf@ce number. I am on the hunt around the chazzers for a plain black bag, if I can find one without too many buckles and other annoying (to me) misc hardware.

Am feeling lurgy and waiting for the brain to warm up and the day to dry out, which is predicted this afternoon, so will hold fire on my allotmenteering until then. I can only do about 2 hrs gardening at a time, due to the CFS/ME, so annoyingly had to leave stuff undone yesterday on one of the most glorious days of the year.

Hoping to replace my knackered leccy toothbrush today and the dead one can go to electrical recycling at the tip. Also have a lot of grass already IKEYA-bagged on the lottie awaiting a by-bicycle tip run. A neighbour who works up the tip reckons that there are 'at least' 8 other people in the city who bring bikes to the tip to drop off.:rotfl:That's 8 of us fools among over 100,000 people then. Mind you, I sail past the cars queueing to get in, which helps the morale a bit.

I have also found out that my chippy uses containers made from sugarcane residue which are 100% bio degradable and compostable - have checked the manufacturer's website to be sure - and have had these washed up and now ripped up and added to the allotment compost dalek. One small step against the waste mountain.......

    Min's game day 12

1 pair poundshop glasses that make me feel sick when i wear them
1 random eco wash ball - so old to be rendered useless (and i have 2 others :o)
1 CD instruction manual for yet another camera

All these were in the utility room that i thought was done

9 items of knitwear that i thought had been done but now decided don't spark joy AT ALL

    Easy :D

I have a list of clothing to be on the watch for

A grey / navy leather belt
    A black "boyfriend" cardi
    A pair black trousers.
    A white shirt

I will do the rounds of chazzers till i find something [STRIKE]suitable[/STRIKE] that sparks joy. THere is no rush.

I have 35 items in my Project 333 closet, it makes dressing so much easier - and kondoing the items you don't like.

In my (also cross body) bag i have purse, keys, phone, phone power bar charger (phone is a smart phone that I use for work emails - it eats power and means i can work on the train), umbrella, kindle (the latter two as required), vaseline, paracetomol, mints, sunnies, glasses, and a fold up nylon - y carrier bag.

Off to the theatre with DD today - twice in a week. Memphis the musical today - kind of an end of holidays treat. We get free rail travel (OH works for railways) and i have got a voucher for ask restaurants from Mr T's clubcard deals, so we will go there before the train back.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Morning Everyone.

Welsh torrents here, but it's not dinting my motivation - raring to go again!

VJsmum: I dug back into my brain for my GCE Maths and calculated that today your Mins total, to date, will be 78! Brilliant! and if you complete the month... 465 items gone (496 in November)! I'm tempted - nothing to lose! :D (The formula is n(n+1) /2)

Yep, living alone, I talk to myself (I like an intelligent audience! :o), and sometimes I mutter my shopping-list in the supermarket!

Way back in the 50s/60s+ little girls yearned for a 'pretty-box' which had a mirror inside the lid and a little plastic ballerina, (in a net tutu), on a spring popped up when opened, twirling to plink-plink music! Sadly, I never got one, either! :D

in need of direction: I agree, we can help by giving usable clothes to any collections for the refugees. :)

M'snet are supporting the Save The Children campaign to provide a safe haven for 3,000 lone children in Europe. The children may have travelled alone or lost their parents en route via sea or in the desert. Any MN members can add their voice to the intiative on this thread.

maman, PollyWollyDoodle, iTwin: I only use one handbag, day-to-day, it is big, and holds 'everything, including the kitchen sink' - or feels like it! It does have too much Stuff in it, but I can see that when some of the items in there have new homes (so I can easily find them!) there will be less komono in there! :D

I don't think that I will ever manage to be as minimal as mav, bag-wise - I have issues with 'being prepared', but there is a good chance that I might change, as I move forward. ;)

Love the pink jeans outfit - how joyful to know that you look good! I have a pair of cobalt blue bell-bottoms, which need taking up, when I can dig out the sewing machine... they may only be worn round the house (for private joy), unless I can get a daring outfit together! :D

I would warn others about shoulder-bags, from painful experience: loaded bags, plus carrying babies/toddlers on your leading hip, can cause an arthritic hip! Today, I only use a grab-bag, much more comfortable. :o

I carry 2 fold-away, snap fastening, BFL, in my handbag, made out of strong J-cloth-type fabric - very convenient. They have short handles, open into box shape, (like this, 1st pic) with reinforced base and I've been using them weekly since Wales went over to charging for plastic carriers. :)

I got one from Spar and others from local shops - the Wilko ones sound the same. Folded size: 7" x 6"and < 0.5" thick, and very lightweight. :j

Otherwise, samosa-ed carrier bags are very convenient for handbag or pocket. ;)

I prefer jewellery boxes for storage, as my 'pretties' require less cleaning, when totally contained. :)

Coats: I have a black corduroy coat, for smart, and a black velvet swing coat for posh. Most of the time, I wear one of 3 hip-length jackets of different weights. ;)

silvasava: I need to cull some spare duvets, which I've been 'saving' to make cushions. I love cushions but have nowhere to use them - yet! :rotfl:

gallygirl: Don't be disappointed about the apparent lack of woo, in The Bible!

I'm sure MK is aware of it, but kept it discreet, because a lot of people are put off by psych-anything. It is buried in the Method and comes to the fore during kondoing. So, the journey is littered with LB moments for those of us who connect to woo! Lots of people put the LBs down to 'common sense', which is OK; others recognise the changes taking place within themselves. It's just amazing, how it happens! :j

Right that's enough, iQueen. Get back in there! (Chivying myself along!)

    Morning all
    Busy and productive morning
5 bin bags and a suitcase dropped off at the Cs
5 cheques and some paperwork sorted with bank
Annoyed with myself as I'd taken the bag of animal blankets and pack of dog food for the animal appeal in tesco and forgot to take them in. Left in car so we can do it next trip.
A lot seems to have come into the house but its mils birthday in a couple of weeks and not knowing what to get her I've bought a couple of bags of bulbs that once she's opened them I'll plant up in her garden for next spring. Also got prepared hyachincs for the 3 grandparents dd3 always does them a bulb bowl each.( Joyful but not too cluttering.)
My front hanging basket isn't looking very joyful at the mo as it's going over so I bought pansies and heather to replant it.
Now I've got to sort mils and DD1s shopping out from mine so they can have theirs later.

Weather is brightening here and looks hopeful for later, at least the rains stopped.
Hope everyone has a joyful weekend

Sending you a hug greent - it is years since my MIL passed but my SIL is still trying to sort out her stuff and occasionally I will be offered a dish or vase or some stuff she doesn't want sent to a CS.
My handbag is huge and filled with essentials if someone wants to whisk me off for a wee holiday ( fat chance but I live in hope). I use a handbag organiser which was £3 from primark.
Have repolised the top of my bureau as the goldfish of 13years died this week and though the top was padded with my first patchwork quilt it had been damaged with condensation. Quilt washed and dried and tank cleaned and will plant cacti or something in it and bureau cleaned polished and looking good.
Off to the Tattoo in Fort George tonight so away to look out my winter boots coats jumper etc and a bin bag in case of rain.
