maman, that's a great idea for how to decorate glass jars. I am the least artistic person in the world and would never attempt decorating amything but i reckon i could trace a pattern through the glass. Thank you! :T

It is a great idea but sadly not mine.;)

Amazing day yesterday having my colours, style and make up done.
    .
Anyway I left her my clothes folder and ordered myself a new one.
Who did you all use please? There's a Colour Me Beautiful consultant about 30 minutes from me, costs £105 for 90 minutes so that's looking favourite at the moment but open to suggestions. Thanks.

I was going to ask just that justthetwoofus. Did you use a national franchise? The experience sounds amazing.

And what's a clothes folder CF?? I could do with some help as my drawers seem to vary hugely in dimensions. Great idea to treat your mum, lovely thing to do for you both.:)

Today I'm hoping to attack some spaces under chairs and tables where storage baskets have found homes for themselves. That's the plan but it's such a glorious day I might sit in the garden instead.:)

Tbh mum lost her swatches years ago and I think what it will do for her morale will be money well spent. We went to an independent years ago so this will be a different company this time.
She has been my step dad's carer for the past 4 years and he will be having a week in respite soon - her first break in 4 years - and I want the focus to be on her. I don't want her to spend her week cleaning, etc. She needs to be pampered so I thought colour analysis followed by shopping for clothes and make up. She needs to find "her" again if that makes sense?
I think that is such a lovely thing to do for your mum CF - I didn't mean to come across as cheapskate - sorry :(
There is so much pressure on carers 24/7- you mum absolutely deserves all the pampering you can give her.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I know it's expensive but I think it will be worth it long term.

    Good afternoon :D
I haven't checked in since last weekend, although I am all up to date with the thread :)
After our week away, I took 3 more days off the paid stuff to get some sorting done, and to just relax :)
DH & I have cleared our 2 sheds - one is actually a summerhouse that is fully insulated. The idea is that it is used to store some of my work equipment that is not needed at present (I childmind, so need a variety of toys/equipment that is not necessarily used all the time). Everything is nice and dry, and mould free - so that is a bonus. I also want to use it as an office space, to sort out paperwork (without having to keep putting it away or it getting scribbled on by 2 year olds!). I have managed to kondo various toys that were no longer needed or were more bulky to store than I wanted (play value to space ratio not high enough!). I have also kondoed a very bulky double buggy that was surplus to requirements (I have another 2 doubles anyway, as well as a single :o ), a car playmat and a pair of wellies DS has grown out of that are too big for anyone else. All of DH's tools & decorating stuff has been rehomed in the other shed (too much to ask for him to actually get rid of anything!) All kondoed items have gone to the chazzer :) (or bin, as appropriate). Floor swept and mopped, and everything put back - I have space!

I just need to start on the paperwork now - but it still seems overwhelming :( I just don't know where to start! It is hidden all over the house!! I must resist the temptation to have a little nap instead!

I have been reading this thread for a while but has never posted before. Last weekend and this weekend I have sorted through our kitchen cupboards. Using the KM method and looking at every item thinking will I use this, does it make me happy etc. we have managed to clear a large bag of kitchen items for the charity shop but more importantly items are stored away in a much more sensible way. We are both really pleased with our kitchen cupboards now and the most frequently used items are now stored at the front off the cupboard.

I used the same method going through my shoes and another 4 pairs are ready to be dropped off at the charity shop.

Jewellery and table cloths will be hardest for me to sort through. Most of that I have inherited and there is definetely guilt attached to keeping things just for the sake of it.

    Thanks for an excellent thread.

I had a local lady who trained with one of the big companies (dont know which) Now works SE as a style advisor she does colours make up personal shopping. The best thing was for me that she comes to your home and can see your lifestyle and help you see what works in your wardrobe and what doesnt.

I just googled style advisor in my local area and there were a lot to choose from.
Most have websites so you can get a feeling for them and then get your iTwin to also check them out and tell you what to ask her :D

She cost £140 but was here 3.5 hours :o Also she is sending me links on the types of clothes that she feels would suit me. To point me in the right direction also I have been asking her about makeup colours so she is still earning her money :rotfl:She told me she is happy to do this for how ever long I need.

So maybe really worth while to go down this route ( She will work with 4 people at a time and no more) I think she was Bl**dy good value for money and I would use her again if I needed to.

Good luck in finding someone just go with your gut instinct and you will not go far wrong :)

Welcome Becky and well done for coming onboard the Kondo Express ;)
All my jewellery I inherited from my Mum. I sold the lot apart from one thing (that we both really liked) Then spent every penny of the money I made and got my special necklace which I wear everyday and never take off (apart from when I go swimming) The friends and family who left us these items would not want us to worry or feel guilty about it.That really is the last thing they would have wanted.

So I did find it quite easy to do and I am really glad I did. So maybe think along those lines if not everything brings you joy.The people who left you these things brought you joy and that is the important thing.

Dont listen to anyone else just go with your heart :)

    Good luck

:) Righty, have been busy today and am a little weary, with a kitchen like a bombsite full of washing up (I'm hiding from it with youse guys).

Dug through a largish chunk of the allotment and kondo'd 4 Ikeya blue bagfuls of weeds to the tip (two separate trips on the pushbike). Went into the bedroom and rehomed the contents of a box and broke it down for the recycling. Had to go to a second communal recyc bin to find space, my neighbours seem to have suddenly got recycling religion!

Back home and taking five when the freezer started making a funny noise. Never good, esp as said freezer will be 9 in January, but knew it was a bit iced, so decided to empty it and defrost. I also had the fridge out (freezer sits on top of a standard fridge but is a separate appliance) and vacummed. I was sure I'd find the missing knife but no such luck.

Freezer now reloaded and sinking towards operational temperature. Hope it just had indigestion and wasn't starting its death rattle.

Have taken 4 garments, two ragbags and some misc to the chazzer today, so stuff is slowly thinning out. Keep up the good work, lovely peeps.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
