Thanks for the Gary towel update GQ we do worry about him lol:rotfl:I think he could have his own twofacebook (thats what i call fbook)account. I dont go on it so I need my updates on here. He could make it onto antique s roadshow in the future.... you never know! Eleanor as well!

I cant think if I have any household items named(im well jel!)
However I cause great amusement by talking to household appliances. My Henry hoover for instance I always say ' come on Henry dear, I have a job for you' :o I think its because he has a cute face:D

Do you think Garys dad would be called Terry?........ ill get me coat
:) I have a Henry vacuum too, mine is called Henri d'Vac. It's yellow.

GARY update; having had a whale of a time in the washing machine, the towel-with-a-name is currently reposing on my clothes airer. It will then go back into the airing cupboard for a stint as this accidental over-exposure has gone to its head and its becoming egotistical and demanding a Flitter account (or some such similar nonsense of which I know very little and care even less).

Nutella fans need to try Cadbury chocolate philladelphia. A bit healthier and DH considers it an acceptable lower cab and cal substitute.

Lots of charity shop donations in the last couple of weeks, being strong about what I like or even love but won't use. I sneakily took some adorable China to work so that if I'm lucky enough for it to be clean at lunchtime I can enjoy using it without having to home it here ;) It doesn't match my dinner service so doesn't belong here even though it is joyful in itself.

I'm really motivated by thinking about wanting less clutter in my home. I share GQ's dislike of landfill and waste so am really keen to see things go for reuse with someone who wants them or recycling at worst.

Dropped off six large donation bags. Where is all this stuff coming from???
Happy to see it go though. Took the laundry basket up to fold and put away and realised that there was a bra that no longer stays white (binned) a pair of trousers that are way too narrow and a top I just don't care about either way. These two have started my next donation bag. Loving MK more and more ...
    Looking ahead

Greetings from Dubai where it is 01.20 and 35 degrees

Though I am continuing on to Hong Kong which is cooler and wetter. :(

I managed to get everything into a fairly large cabin bag and a 25 litre rucksack - but haven't got anywhere near as many shoes as greenbee.

We have a towel called "hotel intercontinental"

We name loads of stuff - the cars, obviously. They are currently called Dizzy and Ed; we have a freezer named Steve (cos it's a Beko) and a bookcase named Julian (don't ask)

In terms of GQ's list, I identify with 1, 2 and 4. Add in a bit of guilt (i.e. someone bought me that) and an amount of "memento" and there you have it.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I run a stall at our village fete -Called trash or treasure we have take a way paper bags with some kind of 'gift' in them hidden inside.
Some of the items are so funny and it is such a laugh.

last year someone donated a soap which was white on one side and Brown on the other and yep written on each side was A*se and Face  So I had the matching soap to the towels :rotfl:Wonder who on earth buys this sort of thing in the first place?

The people who 'won':rotfl:The soap thought it was really funny but would think it was chucked out !
Its a brilliant way of getting rid of all your old tat and last year we made over £200 and sold out in just over an hour :rotfl:

Already started buying 20p items from the bootsale for it and it does give my DH and me hours of entertainment for very little money :rotfl:Its not all old rubbish we do get donated some lovely things (wine giftsets etc) But if people win something good they are always disapointed and have another go to win some carp :D

  • Thanks for the encouragement. Friday's trip was postponed but achieved yesterday. Out went the multicooker that we used to take camping, a juicer that wasted the fibre content of the fruit and veg, a filter coffee maker, a large health grill (which had taken residence in our porch for over a year since a failed freecyle collection) and a hair drier.

All were in good clean working condition, but had all been unused for a while and/or replaced with more suitable products.

They went to the Emmaus charity shop as they can do the pat testing before resale.

Two sets of 6 matching mugs, 30+ years old, but unused, various craft/flower arranging baskets, a hockey stick and a sleeping bag also went with a queen's silver jubilee coffee pot!

    :hello::hello: Me.

DH has a friend who goes on walking holidays, and who is what he himself willingly describes as "a bit odd".
This was an ideal present for him as it saves him carrying two bars of soap as he doesn't like using the same one for different parts of himself ....
Niche market and all that but he was delighted :D

Mavvymoo, please may I pinch your trash or treasure idea for our village fete? It sounds brilliant.

My car is named Poppy and referred to affectionately as the Popster. Geraldine the GPS does not have a pet name as I have no affection for her whatsoever - she's so bossy even when she's wrong although it is quite funny when she thinks I'm driving off-road (a new road which didn't exist when she was born).

Yesterday a pair of cake tins were put in the metal recycling box and a (membership) magazine put on the pile to take to mum's as she likes to read them after me.

Today a friend is coming over to help blitz the office as it is all getting me down. Box at the ready for 2014/15 tax year accounts paperwork so I can clear the filing cabinet to make space for things I need to file for this year's accounts.
