Sushistar - I have Ivory bedding for the same reason. It makes everything so much easier than having matching sets doesn't it? Although I also have some coloured pillowcases that tone in with the rooms decoration that I use sometimes for a change!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I never realised how addictive Kondoing can be! Every room I walk into, my eyes are settling on things to dispose of, often things I haven't noticed for months or years. And storage items are turning up everywhere - finally freed up to be useful.
Out this evening - contents of an old makeup bag; underwear; 15 pairs of tired old socks; 2 pairs of capris that I kept for holidays (and never loved); a bag of kitchen utensils which were doublers or just pointless and a handtowel. Not the biggest of hauls but very, very satisfying!Looking ahead0 -

When I got married (1st time) In 1980 :rotfl:I got a set of those good quality Drab Brown towels which were all the rage in the day for a wedding present (think they were on my list in Brown
) I had them for 30 years and kondo'd them about 5 years ago
But they never seemed to wear out how the hell did they make them then ?Agreed Mav, I swear those old brown ones are in better condition than some of the new ones I saw on the shelf in the posh shop yesterday! There must be something magical in the drabness.
Bin was emptied Thursday and it's already half full. Considering I thought I was done Kondoing, it's a bit
I bought some towels from Habitat in 1971 (hubby worked there). I have a (proper sized!) bathsheet and bath towel - still going strong, along with 2 linen sheets! I also have some H (flat-pack!) furniture from the same year, also going strong, despite 7 house moves! Wish I'd held on to the rest of my H designer furniture!! Still got my glass storage jars with heavy ground glass lids, fabulous classics. They bring me real joy!
BTW, towels obviously were better made in the past - manufacturers took pride in quality. Today Profit is king and quality in everything is constantly falling. But, as a spinner, dyer and knitter, I have noticed that different coloured dyes affect natural fibres in different ways.
Space-dyed, commercially spun, sock wool/cotton show the differences quite clearly sometimes. The un-dyed yarn comes off the spinning process, all the same thickness. It is then printed, with heat, in different colours. I think this process, shrinks the fibres in one colour and relaxes them in another. It can be quite irritating when knitting!Next time you get chance, try feeling different coloured towels (same make and size) - you may notice a difference. If I remember correctly, brown is one colour that shrinks the fibres causing the yarn to thicken slightly. :rotfl:
I would be seriously considering ordering a skip... if only I weren't so keen on recycling! It would certainly speed up my kondoing! :rotfl:

Welcome, MoonJelly! :coffee:
I've been kondoing since January! Early results, on easy clothes, were really motivating, but I got bogged down with main clothes, making 2 more attempts, and now leaving to the end. Then I stagnated for a while, inundated with RL. But my mindset has changed unbelievably and I'm back up to speed.
My house is seriously cluttered, (borderline hoarded, actually)! It is going to take me quite a while to get it anything like my vision of the future! I've tried all the de-clutter books and even a hoarding website, to no avail. The great thing about MK is that she empowers us and doesn't judge, so it really does become a doable, guilt-free, exciting project!
Embrace MK's method (just do it, her way,) and you will find yourself changing, as well as your house. :T
Even 'thanking' things, as you discard them, makes sense, because psychologically it gives us permission to let go of stuff we don't need!
Go for it! There are really supportive people on this thread - not all are as woo as me! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

Thanks for that iQueen These days if you buy really good towels they are not half as good as our olden day ones :rotfl:I loved Habitat it was like wandering round green with envy looking at all these posh designer things that you could never afford (well I couldnt in those days) and buying something really small when you really wanted one of their sofas
Glad your towels are still going strong but please dont tell me they are Brown ! :rotfl:

Going to have another look at clothes  Later as got to make way for the new gym/running stuff and still have some nagging doubts on this one.But I am getting there the bag of kondo'd stuff is still here as the bootsale wasnt running (rained off) so couldnt drop it off to the lovely man I met.So I hate seeing that laying about as I feel I may have to recheck it just incase I do love something :rotfl:

Morning all
Hope everyone is well
Welcome to the new konverts
Achieved a fair bit over the weekend. Went in attic to look for something for DH. Brought down 3 big cardboard boxes - mower, TV and video player! The TV was given away 2 yeas ago, the mower is out of warranty and the video/DVD player/ recorder is broken. Boxes all in recycling
Brought down bag of bridesmaid dresses think 80s meringues in midnight blue, burgundy and ivory satin they were bought at carboots sales and used as fancy dress costumes over the years. They a going to the CS on the next trip
Bag of compost and a load of plant pots went to DD1 shed asked me to buy her some but I had spares in the shed so kondoed them her way.
Also took her a bag of her childhood photos which she loved.
Also over the weekend I've crocheted 19 20grm balls from my stash into squares I'm hoping to get another 6 done today and turn them into a blanket tomorrow which can be kondoed at tomorrow's goes meeting as a raffle prize for a friends cancer charity event - nothing like a tight dad line to motivate is there LOL.
A couple more birthday cards need to be used form the stash this week as well so that's a little more out of the house.
When I visited my mum on firday she gave me a bag of lovely clothes to either wear or pass on, instead of stuffing them all somewhere to deal with later, I've picked 4 tops I love and the rest have been given to DD3 with instructions to wear or pass onSPC~12 ot 124

Great weekend in Norflok with GS5. Weather could have been kinder but little one managed paddle and sand castles on Saturday. Mother lived in Norfolk 40 years so happy memories of holidays and weekends with children. It was nice to be back there with another generation. Kondoed significant amount of money but well spent.
Called into Sheringham on way back - too cold for ice cream but I bought a fresh crab which I kondoed for supper when I got home. Also put flowers on my parents grave and absolutely promised mother I would finally sort the rest of her paperwork this week.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Quick note, before I have to get ready for first appointment this week!
I drooled over the Charles Eames chair, but at £100 it would have been been at least 6 weeks of hubby's income! Still drooling though, and if I ever get chance to buy one, I shall!
No the towels aren't brown! The bath sheet is turquoise with lime stitching and the bath towel is orange. My children loved being wrapped in the bath sheet, post-bath, and one of my daughter's has put her name to it, for when I no longer need it!
Yep, white bedding here! My wealthy daughter passes on hers when she's tired of it! Looks lovely, feels lovely, and goes with every thing... like the late Steve Jobs' uniform - he only wore blue jeans an black polo neck tops! He said it saved time wasted choosing what to wear, when he could be thinking about more urgent things! :rotfl: A lot of turth in that and I would be quite happy with a wardrobe like that. Hmm, may actually work towards it.Needs, NOT wants!

Later on I will try to post a picture of my kondoed white bedroom with it's white bedlinen. So peaceful - aiming to get the rest o f the house to that stage!
Paid work today, so probably minimal Kondoing untill later. But DH has taken a bag to the CS this morning, and I think I am going to tackly some kitchen cupboards later this afternoon.0
