I can't help feeling that greyqueen had missed an opportunity to write a book about PB Nd HB
The Chimp Paradox was a runaway best seller.
I missed out years ago when I use to make up stories for my two boys
When they were little
The same story was made into a blockbuster movie.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Dreadful sin to confess...
I have ....... put away my winter clothes on the top shelf of the wardrobe
Headstrong ruler breaker, aren't IThanks to MK, everything fits into the space with room to spare now.
14 items of summer clothing went straight to recycling and now I am struggling to understand why all 8 white cotton tunic tops bring me joy. I think it is because they all have embroidery on them and say 'holiday' to me. I don't mind ironing them either, which is most unusual.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Have just finished reading the Chimp Paradox. It's my inner chimp who loves chocolate :rotfl::rotfl:
After Km ing my whole house I realised I hated all my dishes and towels and pans so when on holiday the last few weeks I had a good look round for replacements. A bale of towels for £25 in Debenhams was reduced to £12.50 but went through the till at £7.50. The plates were from the wedgewood outlet 70% off and an extra 20% off that day and I love them. I realised what I had been doing with pans- I always bought the set but the smallest and the frying pan were never used so have bought individual pans in the sizes I wanted.
I have given my fridge a makeover and lined the shelves with sticky back plastic ( very BluePeter)https://www.pinterest.com/pin/389561436488568018/

That's a great idea grunnie
I read a tip on yoo toob
To put those cheap flexible chopping sheets from more reasons
They don't completely fit but much easier to clean up.
I have fitted plastic storage baskets to corale small bottles ect in the fridge
So they just pullout easy.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Snorkypants-if you've already signed up for Gift Aid with Oxfam but have lost your number just give them your name and postcode when you take in your donation.
If anyone does have clothes that they think are not fit to sell -most charity shops have a rag or recycling collection so it's worth checking.Snorkypants wrote: »Thanks Thirzah, I've emailed them to check, I told them my new address when we moved and have never heard from them again so I want to be sure my account still exists/is at the right address. I'm planning on collecting the Nectar points.

I too was in danger of having a wardrobe of 'scruffies' for the garden/housework ( anybody else find that can only do certain jobs like garden and housework when wearing certain things??) that was bigger than my wardrobe for work/anything else - had a big purge on that and decided to ditch the maternity trousers I was still using for the garden - DD2 17yrs:eek:
Bras: - for those who struggle with back/neck pain or shyness in about being measured I would say go along to a good fitter - Bravissimo is good. Hit and miss with M&S but good independent lingerie shop, if you have one, always worth a try. Both my DDs suffered with aching shoulders and it was worth the 120 mile round trip to B'missivo as their sizes where positively 'Barbie' in proportion:eek: 30FF and 32 G :eek: and not easily found 'off the peg' so bra shopping with them is very expensive affair but well worth the comfort IMO:) don forget there are charities which collect old bras - our local gym has a collecting box for them
Thankfully neither of my DDs are in the throw away clothes group.............I blame places like P'mark for cheap throw away clothes and the 'Fbook i culture' for constant instant images. DD2 is wearing her last years prom dress to this years summer ball.......altered and embellished a little - her choosing. Her friends are in constant state of flux as to 'what to wear'....................
Just dropped off 3 blue IKE* bags to CS.......feeling good:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Oooh, I do like your fridge makeover, grunnie, that's clever and posh. Must make opening the fridge door a positive delight.
I have one of those small storage baskets which I use in my fridge to corral some of the veg, as I often have stuff in excess of what will fit in the veg drawer. Have carrots in it atm and it's great because you can just bring it to the countertop for prep.
Have done some remote-control kondo-ing by having the council come and collect some unused food waste caddies from outside the flat, they left at some point today whilst I was at work, yippee. Plus I went into the chazzer where I am a giftaid donor to ask if a certain item which I was unsure about was donateable, and it is. Didn't want to burden them with something which wasn't saleable.
On returning home, I was able to shove the vacuum cleaner around the floor really quickly due to the fact that there was no extraneous Stuff roosting on said floor - such a small and simple joy.
I'm also continuing to work through my stash of used pencils by using them up at work, another exited today after being used down into a small stub, was thanked and released into the rubbish. I know when I got this pencil and have had it over 25 years - incredible but true.
Haven't bought anything but food today, although I have given into a workmate's leaving collection and sponsored someone for the race for life, which is a great cause.Am getting pretty excited about reading The Chimp Paradox, can't wait to get my copy. It's amazing the amount of good books I've accessed after being recommended them on this site - who needs a book group, hey?
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

That's a great idea for a thread GreyQueen.
I know there was a free kindle book thread. Maybe posting recommendations/reviews for CS finds. Kondoed after you've read it of course.
I've just read (borrowed) the best seller Girl on a train....mmmm it was ok a bit like the Hitchcock movie starring James steward called rear window.
Went on a bit and written in the first voice. It went back and forth from a few characters. That was ok though.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I have been following this thread since it was 3 pages long. Bought the book and started enthusiastically. I have so much stuff to sort. I retired from work 18 months ago and thought it would take about 6 months to get straight.
The new bathroom was fitted (3 weeks) and new windows at the front. There was so much stuff to move out and then back that I was determined to reduce my possessions.
Life then intervened, so progress had been slow. I was just getting going with the help of this thread, when my son decided he was moving back in with two weeks notice. I feel overwhelmed.
Anyway I have made a new start. My clothes were mostly done, apart from skirts which I have not worn since I left work.
However, work related paperwork was stored in his room as not urgent to sort out. How much of the contents of a 6ft high bookcase did I really need to keep? And disposal is not easy as much of it would be classed as confidential but some can go for recycling.
I found letters to and from a manager who bullied me 15 years ago until I was forced to change my role. I hope that despite bringing all this back to mind and having some bad dreams, the shredding of these it will now set me free to enjoy the rest of my life.
Apologies for the long post, and thanks to all the posters for inspiration.
I will get there!0 -
Hi Choose wisely
I to retired 17months ago. I too had been bullied in a role.
When I was going through my paper mountain (the worst task in all of my kondoing. It was exhausting.)
I came across diaries and 'evidence' of my time that I was a victim of bullying. I found it so distressing, the old feelings flooding back.
I've found myself in worse situations in life whereupon my strength of character got me through. However this bully was so subtle and passive and unfair, it had me rock bottom. Getting rid of these papers was very cathartic for me too.
I worked with some lovely people but this low life spoiled that.
She has had her comeuppance I hear. It's about their low self esteem not yours.
I am happy now all is well.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”
