gq thank you for making a poorly person with a hacking cough smile :j reminds me a bit of Gollum talking to himself about his Precious :rotfl:

I know exactly how your PB & HB feel, part of me wants to use things up, have nice clear spaces in the cupboards and so on, and part of me says 'we don't come to this shop very often so better get 4 of xxxx instead of 1 or 2 cos it will save petrol having to come back specially'then I get cross cos the cupboard is stuffed again. Funnily enough I was considering the shampoo situation this morning as the bathroom is looking pretty bare - and it would be a national emergency if DDs ran out of conditioner.....

Glad to report several bags of clothing were recycle led yesterday along with two heaps of magazines, some old fairy lights and some broken speakers from DDs car:T

Just have to tackle the 'I don't wear it but I paid good money for it' bag now.....and stop DH buying a new running shirt every time he sees them in Aldee because 'it will come in handy' and then he has to cram it in his cupboard with the other couple of dozen...

    :) It's strangely satisfying, isn't it?

And also strangely disappointing as I only had six. I've trained myself to use large durable bags in the supermarket (as in, actually take them OUT OF THE CAR AND INTO THE STORE :T). They are too bulky to samosa :( but I roll them up and store in a supermarket wine bag, one in each bottle slot :). Quite bulky in the boot, but can put something heavy in top and squash them.

Going to call in unexpectedly on DS and impress him :D. DD has been sent the end results and I'll be showing her how next week :j.

PB & HB - :rotfl:. I'm letting PB win a shampoo and conditioner battle, though I have years worth of shampoo & conditioner :o. I now use the special silver shampoo & conditioner for 'ladies of a certain age' every week. I'm about to move to Spain and you can't get it there so buying a spare bottle of each to ship out, along with the lifetime's supply* of other shampoo & conditioner for Mr GG.

    * Assuming he lives another 25 years or so :o.

    Hi Floss

At the top of the page it says thread tools, if you click on that you can then choose to subscribe. To find unread posts, from the menu there is a little downward arrow by the thread name or if you are already on the thread, at the top of the page it says unread posts with a little arrow by the side so you can click on either of those.

Well I have had a mixed week as controlled assessments from my students had to be in so papers are all over, then add to this dd bed stuff arrived but not had time to sort the paint spill on the carpet so that is just dumped on the floor. Am off to a funeral this morning so mind set elsewhere.

The bits I put on ebay mostly have bids. Two don't but hoping to do a car boot next week somewhere to clear other things so hopefully will start to regain space and do random KD whilst I wait for book and finish dd bedroom!

I am on the waiting list at the library but if do ok on car boot might buy it but really I want to through any money at my debts which ironically were caused by buying all this excessive stuff in the first place!

    Morning all

Hi floss welcome to the world of konmarie, I see juliejim has already answere your question so I hope you are all sorted now.

I totally agree with the PB and HB debates gq, but yours really make me laugh out loud.
I'm currently on the no buying toiletries thread, most I own are wins so have cost nothing, some are testers from reviews I've done, and others a car boot bargains - too cheap to ignore.
WHY?? When I already have huge stashes of stuff at home (over 300 items to be precise) the Avon catalogue recently offered their bubble bath which is really very good at half price. I spent £10 then admitted to myself I already have 18 bottles of assorted bubble bath showers gel and body wash! I don't want or need any new bubble bath, even if it was 50p a bottle I have enough to last a good couple of years. I have the storage space for these items so they can stay but will not be added to, other thing is perfume MrMP loves to buy me perfume, I always used to get tresor which I loved but then he started experimenting and buying different ones. I have over 20 bottles now, none of them were cheap. I've run out of tresor which brings me joy but I've had to tell him NO MORE PERFUME till I've used most of this up. So far I've finished one bottle which I've been working on for over a year, my perfume will last a very long time at this rate, the slightly irritating thing is because of the nature of perfume I have to keep it in a dark cupboard to try and protect it and I know it won't smell like the tester he chose it for if its sitting in my stash this long as it changes with age.

I sold some part used non-joyful perfumes on ebay :D I then made myself use up all of my little testers of random perfumes which I liked - but not enough to buy a full sized bottle (except one, but I shall ask for that for Xmas), leaving me with 2 sample sizes and 2 full sized bottles - one of each of my favourite two. Now my only decision is between floral-sweet and floral-citrus - much easier and I know I like them both on me :D - and I'll use them before they go off :D x

:) I think a lot of us ladies struggle with large toiletry inventory. I'm a relative lightweight in this department but still have More Than Enough of certain categories of Stuff.

In the past few days PB's magpie tenancies have wanted to swoop on a good deal on TP (haven't bought TP since 2014 and probably won't need any until July or so, and that doesn't count the 4 x 12 emergency pack supply, for if TSHTF :p ). She was told NO! And then we collectively noticed that the price of f**y b**tos pies had hiked up anything from +19p to +50p in even the cheap shops and fought a PB-driven urge to buy lots before they went up even more.

PB's neediness for security wars with HB's desire for a bargain, and rational concerns about rising prices and static earnings, so there is a fine line between rational and irrational behaviours being trodden in this small flat. Plus I genuinely do not have a lot of storage and excess inventory leads to loss of quality of life.

:o Plus the thought that if I got run over by a bus tomorrow and my family saw this hoard they'd think I was off my trolley...........:rotfl:

I am having similar issues with perfume, toiletries.

That's one reason why i think this thread marries so well with the"frugal frump to fab" thread on the Health and Beauty board, started by Lesson Learned. If it doesn't make you feel fab, why are you still wearing / keeping it?

I love a nice shower gel and body lotion - everyone knows i do. They are fairly reasonably cheap gifts of something i wouldn't buy myself - usually. My birthday is a week before christmas, so between those and Mother's day i am usually sorted for the year. But I was becoming overwhelmed and using up less nice stuff to "get it out of the way". Why? Most of that doesn't even suit me and / or i don't like it. So I have had a purge - if it didn't make me feel fab / give me joy, out it went. To be fair DD has had some of it as she liked it and body sprays become a reasonable air freshener.

OH gathers "free" soap that you get in hotels. But uses the liquid soap. I have had to tell him to stop. We have enough Bars of soap to last us out - I think literally, even though some are very small.

I opened the kitchen draw I kondo'd the other week when he was in the kitchen. I remarked that it was still tidy weeks later - he agreed and said "I have been respecting it" :T And said, "it shows how much of that stuff we rarely use" (I had put random things in plastic tomato trays - Lime zester anyone??? :p)

One drawer down - the rest of the house to go...:rotfl:
