Hi, I don't post very often but I'm another konvert! House is looking so much better. Still not rubbing off on OH though, I did the kitchen and the only comment was "it looks too bare" then spread out the dishes to clutter the surfaces! Long way to go there I think.
I used to post on the hoarding thread from time to time and the combination of doing that first, then this, has transformed my home and state of mind. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I haven't even got the book yet just following ideas on here so who knows it may get done again at some point and be even better!!!
Thank you to all posters, lurkers and cheerers on!ahimsa0 -
I'm afraid I kondoed a used t-bag saucer thingy that my sis-in-law gave me by "accidentally" dropping it on the tiled floor. I hate them but I knew the only way to get rid without offence was to say I'd dropped it. I just hope she doesn't replace it.0

Jue - not sure if this will appeal to you, but my parents who were not rich in monetary terms, but had everything that they needed in their lives had great fun on many occasions throwing parties and asking for donations to their favoured charities rather than gifts for their "special" birthdays and anniversaries:)
Hi Maddiemay, strange that you should say this, DH suggested this just yesterday. TBH I am not sure how it would work with my family. Will have a think about it though, maybe have a chat with my mum, she is usually good at judging these things.Jue0 -

A couple of years ago, when Nan turned 90, we had a big party for her at the village hall. She let it be known well ahead of time that she didn't want any gifts but donations to a childrens' hospice charity in the area, if people wanted to spend some money. We gave cheques and raised several hundred ££ for the cause. Best of all, there was nothing to dust at the end of it.

How wonderful GreyQueen, what a lovely thoughtful Nan. Will chat with DH and mum about this. Makes you think just kon mari'd my 2 1st and 18th cards/keys buy photographing them and letting them go. Too old and dusty to be useful/displayed, just been sat in a box in the loft. Makes you think about things. :undecidedJue0 -
I love the idea of having donations made instead of gifts given. When I was a teenager, for several years I asked for money to be donated to charities instead of birthday or Christmas presents, as I could never think of anything I needed. I am going to return to this for Christmas this year.
I have kondoed over 2000 photos today. I watched the youtube video that one of your kindly posted about decluttering sentimental items and it really helped, so thank youLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Evening all:)
Long before my recent decision to not send or receive xmas cards to friends and family. I announced at work I wouldnt be sending greetings cards including xmas. Only special occassions. I got mixed reception on it. People assumed I was being thrifty possibly called a tightwad behind my back!
Truth is I spent more sending a donation to a local charity instead of cards close to my heart. I put the lovely thank you letter i got from the charity on the notice board. I inspired more to do the same but a lot still sent me cards and still do even though im retired!:(”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Hi Birdie,
The fabric is black, so I doubt it would dye well. I've made my peace with it now and feeling much more serene about it.
Thanks for the suggestion though"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Morning konverts
Just a quickie to say a big thank you to BuffyTheDebtSlayer for the checklist, realise I am still not going about it the right way! Still doing it in sections rather than category, so books broken down into cookbooks, history books etc, already kondoed a few more:j
Also got suitcase from under the bed out, linen trousers reinstated for summer and a few things not worn for more than 5 years DEFINITELY went out!
Off to work now, add so, everyone have a good day
