After stating only earlier that I was currently paused in KM-ing, DH woke and decided to 'do' his wardrobe (hanging items only - and these will all remain hanging - shirts, suits, waistcoats, coats, etc) He KMd 5 shirts, a leather coat, 2 pairs 'smart' trousers, 1 tie - and jumpers which he found on a shelf - oh and a bag which we received on our balloon trip some years ago - along with the contents of the bag (a baseball cap, a dvd, a book and 2 keyrings). The 2 jumpers are a brand and were only worn once or twice so I shall pop those on eb@y as a pair, along with the tie (a very unusual one). If they don't go, fair enough - they shall leave by other means!! :D The rest of the clothes have gone into my cash4clothes pile - which will be dealt with at the end of the Easter hols (I suspect it may grow slightly between now and then) I *could* donate them all, I know - but I'm choosing to do this instead, and am donating bric a brac, kitchenware, some toys etc. (I'm still managing to take bags to the local CS twice a week with only those sorts of items!! :D)

I, on the other hand, had the urge to sort my sewing stuff. I'm not a craft-y person, and sewing is viewed as a necessary evil (replacing buttons, sewing badges on Cubs/ Beavers/ Army Cadets/ Swim stuff). I therefore don't need much. It was originally in one nice practical Tupperware box with dividers and a removable tray - but - over time- the lid no longer fitted on and a couple of takeaway tubs were added for overflow items. It now fits back in the original box (which has had a well deserved and much needed clean!) and is all sorted. Over 50 needles have been removed for a local charity project (ones which I can't thread) along with several spools of thread (some unused). I've thrown several bits of card from hotels with part used threads on) and lots of buttons (although not all!) and some curtain rings, bought for a project about 20 odd years ago! Spare buttons and collar things for OH's shirts have been put all together in a little bag. It's now pleasing to the eye :) Whilst sewing itself does not bring me joy, what is there is necessary - and the badges etc sewn on to things bring my children joy - and they bring me much joy :D

Also on that shelf was a cookery book (received as a wedding present 20 years ago and never used - now in my Ziffit pile) and 2 folders of recipes. Once was from 2 house moves ago and I removed 2 recipes from it and KMd the empty (but very sweet) folder to CS pile and the recipes themselves to the recycling. The other (with handwritten recipes in collected over the last 5-6 years) has gone to a bookshelf with recipe books - a category not yet tackled (although other books have been - recipe books are harder for me so am leaving them until further along the line) The shelf was then cleaned before only my newly sorted sewing box being replaced upon it :)

An unexpected bit of KM-ing - with good results :D

:) Got any old tights or stockings? Put a tube in each leg and hang them up in a cupboard.

I had several rolls of identical gift wrap, 3 m per roll. I rolled them all onto one core, and took 2 of the spare cores, slit them top to bottom and put them on the outside of the superroll (overlapping the join) to protect the paper. Secured with a couple of elastic bands and thus muchly reduced the space they took up. HTH.

Mine's in an under bed storage box with gift bags, cards, ribbons etc - I have 2 boxes - one for just Xmas wrap/ cards and one for birthday/ wedding etc stuff :) (most of the gift bags are recycled and we receive a lot of them)

My gift wrap is under the bottom drawer under my wardrobe....with lots of dust lol. I put some under there this jan and found 3 rolls already under there that I could have used at Xmas instead of buying. Won't need to buy any this year if I remember it's there lol

I belong to a FB support group for a long term illness and the people are marvellous and so helpful, but the downside is that it moves on so quickly and I have found no way of referencing great information that I have read without scrolling back through gazillions of posts and find the format difficult, whereas MSE forums are full width and easy to speed read for me when I am referencing back for links etc. I have dropped out of other groups for this reason. However, bearing in mid the lovely people on here I am sure that it would be fun and supportive:D (it may be an age thing as I find Instagram frustrating too having to reload comments and then not being able to see answers to questions in the same screen view either)

Washing is up to date and there is still space in the drawers - amazing to think that only a couple of days ago my bedroom was piled high with clothes.

Still have a box of summer clothes in the wrong room so will slowly sort that out this week to see where I can put them amongst the ones already stored. May have to move things around a bit, but think there is space for most of it.

Friend coming tomorrow to help Kondo airing cupboard and cupboard above wardrobe so hopefully some more things finding their way out of the front door.

Still plodding through bits of paper piece by piece (did all the easy ones first) and it's slowly going in the right direction.

    Hi Konverts,

I have been MIA for a few weeks but i have been keeping up with the thread and my kondoing.

I said a few weeks ago that i would love to kondo DS's bedroom but as he is nearly 27 i thought i better not.

On Tuesday he left to go to another part of the UK on a work trip for two weeks. I asked his permission to tidy up a bit as i wanted to shampoo his carpet. He gave permission to me so i told him to remove anything from his room that he didn't want me to see etc etc.

This boy is a slob he keeps his clean clothes on the other single bed and i thought he was too lazy to put them away. Nope all the drawers etc were full. On further tidying i have discovered that he is a bit of a hoarder!!!!!!!!!

I have boxed up his paperwork, spare games and dvd's and his cycling clothes and equipment as he is now a car driver and no longer cycles.

I started going through his clothes and putting too small and too tatty clothes in it i feel when he comes home it will be the easiest box for him to sort to begin his process.

I have only discarded genuin rubbish and it was only 2 carrier bags worth of wrappers etc.

I am not getting rid of anything else as its all his and only he can do it.

I am annoyed that i have never discovered this before.

    regards
    :j
