  • Hello everyone. Well my clothes are all kondoed and anything that can be rolled is rolled. I did have my work trousers (5 pairs all black, all the same style) folded in a drawer, but I don't have many drawers so decided to hang them up again and use the drawer for vests and tops. I might see if? I can find one of those multi hangers so they take up less space.

I also had preliminary go at one of the kitchen drawers where I found (wait for it) 14 lighters and 22 boxes/books of safety matches. Plus a box of kitchen matches. Bearing in mind I gave up smoking 10 years ago. We did until recently have a gas cooker but the ignition worked fine so we never needed matches to light it. So I kept the lighters and the kitchen matches, plus the book matches because they’re obviously bar souvenirs belonging to DH.

But what to do with the safety matches? I’m vying between putting them in a big box with an emery board or just sticking them in the bin. Maybe I should burn them off and start building a scale model of the Shard.:D

Despite being out all day yesterday, I am feeling Kondoing success. It is not the big things but the little ones that have shown that the system is working.

OH wanted me to buy a card for his sister's birthday but I was able to pull out my cards and wrapping stuff. He could choose one from the many that had been bought but had got 'lost' in the house.

DD also asked where the sellotape and wrapping paper where. Again, I could tell her straight away. She did ask why we had so many small rolls of tape but as they fit in the box then they can stay.

So those of you who are feeling that you are not getting anywhere- keep going. It does work. I have been Kondoing since the beginning of this thread. It is slow going but it is going.

  • Well I have been living in a Kondo'ed house for a few weeks now and its been great - everything has a home and it literally takes a few minutes every night to put everything away and have it all tidy and relaxing...

Although oh is not onboard it has affected him - the back room has been a junk room for years and now that I have sorted it out he decided to start decorating it so came home from work and its been painted white - looks so much nicer and fresher!

Finding something to wear is great - I arranged all my hanging things going from left to right starting at thick jumpers, going to thin ones, to long sleeve blouses and then t-shirts like Marie said - its a doddle to pick anything out knowing I 1) fit into it 2) really like it.

Now that my socks are folded and in a shoe box I realise just how many of my socks I dont wear because of one thing or another - I only every seem to rotate and wear the same ones.

One thing I did have a problem with was culling my 37 pillowcases down to about 10 on the beds and 10 spare - somehow I dont think this is enough but will see how I go....

Oh was looking for a phone charger for his phone as his no longer works and I found the spare one straightaway as it was in my charger drawer where I use empty toilet rolls to store all the different chargers we need (got rid of EVERY LEAD AND CHARGER that did not have a corresponding thing!!!!)

As Marie says, once you get your house in order you can start thinking about other things - my head is soo much straighter and I dont feel overwhelmed or overtaken by all my stuff - viva Marie!

    Good evening Konverts,

I have eventually discovered that space is to be enjoyed not filled with carp. I have lived in this house for a little over 2 years and i always thought it was too small. Now i am having second thoughts.

    Space, its a wonderful thing.

    regards
