The DWP do a pension tracing service
just ring your local pension office. They will send you details of your pension providers. Then you write to the private pension scheme providers.

I'm getting the post from them (forwarded) I'm just having problems working out how to get my change of address to them :) However, it has occurred to me that I can probably find an address for the trustees, so can always write there. I suspect there is probably a website I should be using

100 pages of posts on the KonMari method deserves a celebration I think!

I'm off upstairs to help my DD Kondo some of her books before bedtime.
  • kondoing by stealth here.

I came to visit my parents this weekend. I have never mentioned konmarie, however, my mum is currently filling bags for the charity shop! The wardrobe in my old bedroom is now empty (not my stuff I might add).

    Good evening everyone,

Had to go shopping today with DH so i didn't get anything done.

I was thinking about what i can still do, i have decided that i haven't been doing it all in categories and the right order. I think that i will re-read the book and start over.

    Regards

It does work - I have two bin bags of clothes for the charity shop and a bag of 'rags'. I feel lightened by getting rid of them. And the guilt is dissipating. I do have a small pile of smarter items that I want to try and sell on Eb*y. Will go for one listing, if they sell they sell, if not it's the charity shop.

Wmf, hope your book sorting went well. It took me most of the weekend to sort my clothes out, and shoes still aren't done. I've been tackling it in batches around other jobs.
As I sorted and folded what I'd put in the keep pile I did have to go back to several items and ask again "does this spark joy?". I ended up putting another 5 items into the bin bags. I'd dithered over them the first time.
I had a wardrobe sort out just a little while ago but this time round it's been so much more productive.

I mended two pairs of trousers this evening which has boosted my wardrobe considerably! They are trousers that I love, I'd just not got round to repairing them -maybe because I didn't need to as I had so many other clothes to choose from :o

Queue jumped on the sorting a bit as I took the opportunity to kondo my sewing box whilst I was there- got rid of random bits of ribbons, lots of buttons from clothes I no longer have, and thread in colours that I don't have matching fabrics for. I've kept some relevant buttons and a couple of generic spares which now fit nicely into one of those little containers that disposable gloves sometimes come in (a bit like the inside of a Kinder Egg).

Anyhoo, this is turning out to be rather lengthy so I'll wrap up there. Hope you all have a splendid week of kondoing!

Kondo'ing is spooky - I cleared the 'spices' shelf in my kitchen cupboard - the one where I would shove various bottles in and close the door quickly. I had 3 tupperware containers - asian spices all fit exactly in one, other herbs and spices all fit precisely with no spare room in the other and all the bottles (wine vinegar, balsamic etc) exactly fit the 3rd!:eek::eek: How did that happen? I threw everything out that needed throwing before I went searching for boxes..... verrrrrrry weird indeed!

At Christmas I bought new Sellotape as I knew I had some but coudn't find it. Having pulled out my 2 kitchen drawers, fixed the back I didn't realise was broken, scrabbled down the back of the cabinet for stull that had rolled underneath I now have a freezer bag with SEVEN rolls of tape waiting to find a new home

The house also looks a tip as I keep finding bits that don't have a 'proper' home yet but will do eventually. This is a consequence of just shoving stuff in any drawer/cupboard/bag at hand - so there is make up in the ktichen, tools in the bathroom and lord knows what in my desk drawers. Getting there slowly.

Went into town to do my usual trip round the shops and charity shops. I did notice that, whenever I was tempted to buy something, the thought of the two huge bags I had taken in this morning stopped me. What would be the point of cluttering up again? I did make one purchase though, a nice pair of purple White Stuff trousers for £4. I had got rid of some trousers so felt reasonably justified.

I was so tempted in M&S where they had some lovely cotton nightdresses, in pink. I already have 3, in white, two of which still have the tags on so, unless I can take them back, I guess I will just make do with the white.

With the money I felt that I have saved, going on past Monday morning charity shop visits, I subscribed to a magazine as I came across a good deal for one that I wanted.

I am too old to save money (although I still do for Christmas etc.), so I am going to use any money that I feel I am saving in my new found tidiness, to treat myself without guilt.

When I got home, I folded up my scarf and put it away with the others instead of hanging it up with my coat. My bedroom looks great, nice and relaxing, and I can feel the space around me.
  • I read a little of this thread last week and when I came to sorting out some boxed-up clothes I found I was able to be a lot more ruthless with throwing stuff out! I asked myself: when was the last time/have I EVER worn this? Does it 'bring me joy' when I wear it? If the answer was no or *shoulder-shrug* then it was outta here!!

I've noticed the same thing,:) why would I want to store items that I never use or don't love?

I love the sound of treating yourself whitesatin.

Jinny - towards the beginning of all this you recommended adding bicarb or was it baking soda to revitalise a white wash. So many posts to go back through - could you tell me again please?
