Thanks Fortune - I'm not the best cook and most times it's edible but I do like to try new recipes every now and then - oh my poor family :rotfl:
Today's NSD failed as I bought lunch at work - £1.43 for a small salad pick and mix (including discount) so not as expensive as it sounds. I'm going to try and do packed lunch every day next week though.
Why oh why does my washing machine have a fault a week or so after the warranty runs out !
I think it's the thermostat as the clothes are coming out hot. I have no EF  I will ask DH to price it up and ring the company and we will go from there0 -
My washing machine is still hanging in there!
I think a thermostat is around £10 - not sure if DH can change it. I havent had time to ring Ho*ver yet - on list of things to do.
My plans for the weekend have gone out the window so to speak.
Last night was just DH and myself and after the sad week we have had a quiet night was had but for some reason we both couldnt sleep so today i'm really tired, got a banging headache and havent got much done from a housework/shopping point of view so hoping to catch up tomorrow. It meant I didnt get to the bank to pay in any coinage I had accumulated but it will still be there for next week
Today we took my DMIL out for a few hours and had a mooch around Ik£a.
I like getting inspiration for ideas for the home speaking of which, DH and I agreed the house is going on the market next Spring. Therefore home improvements are a must! I did plan to have an EF to fund this but this is non-existent at the moment so any spare cash saved I think is going to have to go towards home improvements so that we can get the best price for it and downsize and pay off debts.
The first home improvement is the shower room. It's acqua! way back from the early 80s I think! :rotfl: We never did replace it ! I think B&* may be the cheapest option for a toilet, sink and shower tray but will shop around. Think we will paint (again) the tiles but may go for a paint with a subtle colour - painted it white previously as we kept the aqua sink etc. Need to sort the flooring out as well. Where there's a will there's a way !0 -
Shopping update:
My headache cleared (after 2 tabs) so I decided to go shopping today after all. I saved £7.05 compared to other supermarkets ! So I will put this saving off my OD :j
I got some great bargains! The cheapest of which is 1p for a thinly sliced white loaf! I couldnt resist! My aim is to make a bread and butter pudding with it tomorrow :T
I'm also chuffed that I got 4 corn on the cob reduced to something like 40p - I trimmed all the sweetcorn popped them in a freezer bag ready for putting on pizzas or sprinkling in salads :T
2 punnets of peaches at 17p each which I will make a crumble with - oh dear I think I'm becoming obsessed :rotfl:
I was lucky in that it wasnt busy so felt confident to pick them up before anyone else did :rotfl:0 -
DD2 back from her holidays tonight and I cant wait to see her especially as she told me she has had a bump whilst she was in the go-kart and is aching and cut.
I've got clean bedding ready to put on her bed - just going to give her a room a quick hoover and polish as I think there is nothing better than coming home to your own bed
I have had 3 NSD this week - did want 5 but i only had little spends so I'm pleased overall.
I've been the gym and tried pilates for the first time - i found it very hard mastering breathing and struggling to lift body weight :rotfl: I also went on the treadmill and bike and worked off 150 calories :T
I may go swimming this weekend if i'm not too busy as i'm planning on sorting our bedroom out - I'm transferring the spare bed to my room as it will fit in with the decor and getting rid of the bed i am currently in - its probably one of the causes of my back ache ! i'm transferring the wardrobe and chest of drawers to the spare room for now and then i will see how the land lies with my room - just doing improvements to the room initially that wont cost money!
Pay day Tuesday hooray!0 -
DD2 is ok :j
Didnt get as far as I would like with my bedroom - still work in progress but at least one chest of drawers moved to spare room.
Mountains of washing to get through - thanks DD2!
Its raining so the house is full of wet washing which I hate!
£2.32 saved on the shopping this week - it's a drop from the last 2 shops but guess what I didnt do a list!
Where has the weekend gone?0 -
Yey pay day which means bills paid and debts paid too - apart from a couple of dds which come out by the end of this week.
House looks like a launderette still with washing drying everywhere
1 NSD so far this week.
Over the weekend I did go swimming - so in all I went to the gym 3 times last week :A
I completed a knitting project which i gave to my mum's neighbour for her daughter - it didnt fit my DD1 or DD2 lol
I'll pick up the next project to finish at the weekend.
I need my hair desperately cutting - i hate the expense of this but needs must.
The only progress with the bathroom is that we have a friend who will come round after his holidays to "look at it " I'm so embarassed that I really dont want him to come at all :rotfl:
I have ordered some bedding via Quid*0 which I'm desperately in need of - i'm impressed with my :money: as i should get cashback which is something i've never done before ie. using a cashback site!0 -
Ive been poorly this weekend (should lose some weight):rotfl:
so not picked up knitting, not done shopping/cleaning or got hair cut. DH did go shopping though and saved £1.85.
Lets hope I recover quick as back in work tomorrow :eek:0 -
Hope you feel better soon.

Working at Living0 -
Thank you Fortune - i went to work yesterday but wasnt 100% so booked today off.
I feel its more like a head cold - i've taken tabs, head a lazy morning but going to move myself now - i'm dropping DD2 at work and then going to get my hair cut. I'll then come home and clean up hopefully! If nothing else, I've got my hair cut :j0 -
It's been a long week.
I did get my hair cut and while the cut looks presentable, the colour will need doing soon. Going to hold out till the end of the month as its my bday then and want to look my best then as DD2 wants to take me out for a meal with her and her boyfI have told her that she doesnt have to do this - I dont want her spending her money, but she is insistent! I am going to have to think of a compromise as she wants to go to a posh restaurant. I'd be quite happy to eat fish and chips and walk along a prom like the "good old days" tbh
The week has dragged as I havent been feeling 100%. I havent been the gym or done much. This weekend has been catching up on washing and cleaning. Still need to do the upstairs ! I need to go to food shopping today as well and I hate going on a Sunday - feels like a waste of a day and a sunny one at that!
My tooth starting aching yesterday and woke me in the night. I could do without this expense at the moment
Car insurance came in a little cheaper.
There is some overtime at work so I'll be doing some next week which should come in time for DD1 birthday celebrations.
Ive got time booked off work at the end of the month and i'm counting the days :j0
