Lost car key - help
I rather stupidly lost my only car key :-(
It's a Suzuki.
It's a normal key but with buttons to lock & unlock & they turn the alarm on & off.
What do I do?
Do I have to go to Suzuki?
Any idea of cost?
I'm locked out of car & unfortunately the log book is locked in the car, as I had it serviced Friday & I forgot to take it out.

I did this a couple of years ago with a SEAT Leon. Ordered the key from the main dealer, had a local locksmith come out and code it in.
The dealer should have a record of your chassis number.
I think the key was around £100 and £60 to program it in. The dealer wanted me to tow the car to them once i'd got the key, then they would code it in for £100....0 -
Try sitting on the toilet, it sometimes aids memory loss0

I don't know what what coding it in means :-(
It's a normal type of key.
A key with bits in & out, not one of those fancy new type ones.
Will I have to visit the dealer?
They will just be able to supply they key won't they?
Will they know from the Reg number?0 -
Hi,
did you leave it in the ignition and lock car using the button?
Is it on same keyring as house key, and still in house door?0 -

Ah - not one of those fancy new ones?
Car must be a fair age then.
All cars since 1995 have a transponder chip in the plastic part which means they must be coded/programmed to a particular car.
See here if you car is newer than 1995:

You need to find that key, or the spare.
As Iceweasel says, Suzuki have used transponder keys for donkeys years, so not only do you need the correct shape key cut, but the immobiliser needs reprogramming to accept the key.
Suzuki probably won't supply a new key without the V5, although you will find the VIN details on the dash at the foot of the windscreen.
Certainly, supplying a new key and the programming will cost an arm and a leg.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The key looked like a key, my daughters looks like a small plastic box!
It's got two buttons on the black fob bit, one to open & one to lock.0 -

I lock the key with the button. Car locked.
It must have fallen from my pocket between car park & office.0
