You have got to find out where all this dust has come from If it caused this amount of worry/damage what else is going to be 'fouled' up!

I think we all agree where it's come from, the house, the boiler is only the spreader of the stuff.

Verdict is with all the vacuuming and stuff the air quality is improving.

Also it does have the add on for the HW interchange, looks like a simple sparky job to see what's dead, but that's secondary.

CO metres are fitted through the house and are quite, which is good.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

8 kWh a day plus 3 kWh lost from the HWC =11 kWh a day times 365 = 4015 kWh at 0.0316p = £126.84 plus what I would save with having a new more efficient boiler.

    Possibly more than £150.

Yes but nobody wants to work on it or maintain it except SG.

have you asked J&S who their local service engineers are?

How much do you think a new flue with no joins in it would cost? £4,000?
    E[/QUOTE]

I had a total new system, new flue and a thing on the roof to take fumes away, new door, asbestos removed + taken away all for less than £3000, can't remember the exact figure but I know I had change.

    I did.

    There is no one local.

We could look at two threads, one asking how much to rip out a working warm air system to replace it with a wet one ........£6000 plus
Or we could ask how much to upgrade a working system to give it another 25 years.

But if the OP tells us a warm air system installed makes the house unsellable
( those who are extremely happy with warm air , pleas stop laughing )
not a lot of point with this thread.
Said from the beginning , its marmite.
But those who don't like the system have started with untruths and don't seem to believe those who live happily with it.

Looking at the tread, those who actually
had the system loved it ..... couple for over 25 years

Others just spoke a a lot of 'hot air'
Cant sell the house , its over priced or you need a better agent, but if you think its unsaleable, I won't be able to change your set mind.
As for laughing, will carry on in my nice warm home.

I have just let my "warm air" ticket lapse as I moved and there are none round here, but I used to work on loads and have a love hate relationship with them.

Just bear in mind that warm air is the heating system of first choice in places like Canada where freezing conditions would kill any wet system. They love them as they are properly installed and understood.

Johnson and Starley are a good company and very helpful. The chief complaint about them in the UK is their high gas consumption as their burners and hot water heaters are rather old technology these days. I understand you can now get a condensing warm air boiler from J&S and hopefully a more efficient water heater than the old Janus3 add on.

Yes, that slide in filter is the key to better air and in the wrong house they can clog up in a week or two, but it should certainly be dusted off with a paintbrush at least once a month, if not more if you have pets. Kept clean these systems can work well.

You might find also that J&S were ahead of the game on heat control as they were amongst the first to install a thermistor instead of a thermostat as the wall control. This means the boiler output is controlled by the heating demand and is not just an on and off switch like a thermostat. This means a much more even control of room temperature. We are now starting to use them on wet systems, but the Open Therm system is still very rare, even though the electronics on modern boilers is geared up for these controls. J&S got there decades ago
