I don't think it's a good idea to close all registers and put the system on. My instructions tell me the registers must have a percentage open or there could be blow back and on my old system it blew out the pilot when my grandchildren went round playing with the registers.
If the ducting is full of dust and fluff then it needs a vacuum put down inside the vents.
My Dyson picked up loads of dust from my lounge carpet, on inspection I found it to be the underlay turned to dust and getting sucked through the pile...maybe worth checking?

Do you live in a house with warm air..........or just talk Hot air.
    How qualified are you?

As for out dated..... still installing them.......... so how wrong can you be!

well if you don't realise what rgi stands for in my nick then :rotfl:

the unit doesn't cause the dust it picks it up from the room it draws it's air from then blows it into the ducts so over years the ducts are full of settled dust, hot air rises so having the grills in the ceilings up stairs is lovely if you live on the ceiling but not so good when your feet are cold
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

That's what I wanted, :T:T, I'm going to pop back and take another look today, I take a couple of pictures.

To clarify, I was going to try to "catch" as much dust as possible in the vac and pick up manifold I construct.

All these feeds are run under ground floor as it's a bungalow, no vertical risers so any dust is going to have an easy way out.

As far as I'm concerned there is no question that it a dust rather that boiler issue, I think I've made that very clear. Didn't want to start a war re types of system guys so chill a little, we all have out own preferences.

Maybe I've been watching to many of these yankee/canadian Mike Holmes on homes shows, brushing and vacumning out the duct work it what seems to be a very common form of home heating over there is common place.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

All hot air rises ( please feel free to insert your own smilie) So unless you have underfloor heating , you will have the same problem But lets ask those who have Warm air if they ever have a problem?
Who's better qualified , those who live 365 days a year with the system or he who sees it for a couple of hours?
