Santa's Challenge 2015 - Xmas, Birthdays, a chat, a bit of everything

I have just had a mad idea tonight, its a weird one how it came about, as most people know, my parents lost their 1st daughter with cancer, she was only 18 mths old, and this month she would have been 48. Its weird as I was born 2 years and 2 days from when my sister passed away, Miss Hoodie was born 35 yrs and 2 days from my sisters birthday.
So I am setting myself a challenge to do 50 things for charity, by September 2017 (her 50th).
Thinking...
Cancer - she passed away with cancer
Dogs - She loved my grandparents dog, and the dog my parents had, I got to spend 8 years with him.
Baby/Child - She was diagnosed as a baby with cancer
Its not going to be great feats like climbing everest/ raising 10k, more on a personal level, whether taking bag of items to charity shop, knitting blanket for dog, giving towels, bedding to dogs home.
In planning mode at mo, doing palm reading at swishing event, for kids mobility charity, crochet 10 blankets for charity - for babies that are born sleeping..., next charity shop trip, drop off a bag at hospice shop.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Good luck with the fundraising mum2one
Hope everyone is well

Santas Challenge September
Where does the time go, were 3 months away from the event so time for a challenge.
Where am I?
Try to get ahead of the where am I, whether it is saying yes we have open house or no its just us, start asking the questions
Christmas Catalogues
The Xmas catalogues are starting to make an appearance in the shop, may be handy to keep and eye out. The shops are starting there Xmas stock, Boots have their xmas stuff on 3 for 2
Supermarket Shopping
Hopefully there is an extra item or 2 going in the basket to help with Xmas.
Christmas Cakes
Nows the time to look at what recipie / ingredients that you need for the cake(s), and get the fruit soaking.
Birthday Cards
We're coming into the last quarter of the year, so have a look at your stash to see what you have and/or dont have.
Christmas Cards
Hopefully following on from previous challenges, your have your cards ready to write, even if it just putting them ready, see what you need and even make a start.
First Aid Kit
Whether it is a full on first aid kit, or an icecream container, - check the contents and see what you need, whether it is a pack of plasters, through to antiseptic wipes, see what is there
Miss Hoodies corner
For this challenge, it a bit of here and there, no one room in particular, aim at coffee table, the book case, the side board. Those areas where everything gets dumped on... be ruthless
Prescriptions
If your like me, my repeat does keep the chemist busy, so if not sure what tablets you are on, ask the reception staff to print a copy off (ours does this) and you can check against your stock.
Flu Jabs
Its that time of the year, so if you fit the criteria, head down to the doctors, some surgeries do open day's based on surnames, although you should be able to book an appointment.
The Christmas Push
This is the time for the last push towards a payout from survey sites, cash back, its worth checking all the sites you use Payments do vary from different ones, in may be that you get them in 2016, from here this also gives you chance to see whether the sites are working for you
Make someones day
Whether it is smiling at the person at the bus stop, paying someone a compliment, it make someones day.
Me corner
For this month the me corner, its have a film event, whether it is a weepie, an action, rom-com, say its me time, kick your shoes off, a glass of wine (or a coffee) and the big treat - a bar of chocolate.....
On the Chocolate thought, I wish you the best xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I really like the September list thank you mum2oneSPC~12 ot 124

Hi everyone
Right I`m back...2015 has been such a weird year and its nearly over.
I have been Christmas planning but seem to not spend so much time on the internet.
House move / repairs and holidays seem to have been taking away my time. I`m still making Xmas cards and other craft fair items.
As promised Angela here is the video of my 2014 Xmas village. :rotfl: hope you enjoy it. It was only today I`ve had a chance to add music and upload it. Its not as good as I wanted it but it was a rush job

Hope you are well and everything is going ok. I will try to read back the posts as soon as possibleChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Hi all
Susan, your village is really spectacular, the video was fascinating to watch. It must have taken a lot of work to synchronise everything. Truly magical.
It reminded me of a time travel film (also a novel) about a man goes to work on his usual morning train and finds himself in the Victorian times. I've completely forgotten the name of it (typical lol)
Thanks you so much for adding the link. It's now put me in a crafts/dolls house Christmassy mood.0 -
Thanks for the challenge mum2one.
Re the surveys -
Is it just me, but I haven't been able to get into the yougov site for ages.
I also can't get into one of my email accounts and when I recently tried to open a new mobile network account I had difficulties too - I must have some kind of jinx in place. I had dreadful problems getting the Dismaland tickets and had to ask the librarian to do it, maybe I should just return to quill and ink lol
Miss H's challenge - this week I seem to have become motivated to declutter so put a lot of suitable things into the recycling bin. It seems easier for me to do this rather than get rid of things into the waste bin or charity shop as those kinds of items are much harder to part with emotionally.
eg some half broken thing that 'may be useful' or those 500 books that you'll never read again but won't part with 'just in case' :mad:0 -
Susan - the video is amazing, there must have been hours of work gone into it.
We did some Xmas shopping yesterday, popped into B&M, lethal visit when I have Miss Hoodie with me, thou I have to say my best bargain was a 1/3rd size bottle of Baileys was only £2.99 looks more expensive xx
Angela - I'm ok with You Gov, hope you get it sorted xxxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thought I would join in with this thread as I've tried to be super organised this year with Christmas and birthdays.
I have two birthdays coming up in October, (DM and DBF) and then another 2-3 birthdays in December and then of course Christbmas!
Christmas I have a whole draw of stuff ready for wrapping, and we have wrapping paper that was bought in the M&S sale at the beginning of the year.
Cross stitching a pattern for my DBFs Mum for Christmas, have been working on it since June, on and off...at this rate she'll get it for Christmas 2016 LOL.
Having a few problems with what to buy my other half and several male family members on his side...my side not a problem as I just shove gift vouchers at them, but my bfs side are more generous than my lot and so I want to give them something decent. It's his brother in law and his uncle mainly...any thoughts?0
