Ptsd?

Hey

I saw a pretty disturbing video years ago and have flashbacks to it to this day. It cripples me when I have them and can't get it out of my head. Completely ruins my day.

Came across another vile video a couple of days ago and fear same thing is happening again. Seriously feel suicidal when I think about it as can't believe this disgusting !!!! happens and feel totally helpless.

Anyone else seen something they can't shake? Is this a form a PTSD?

    Sounds a bit like it.

How did you come across the recent video? (The one you saw a couple of days ago,) and why did you keep watching it?

    Sorry, I just wondered.

I watched something several years ago online that I wish I had never watched. It doesn't 'haunt' me but if I think about it, it makes me feel queasy.

What was it you watched? (Just a rough idea?)

  • Social media. Not sure why people feel the need to post and share these things that we are powerless to do anything about. All for a petition or whatever, but just sharing for the sake of it should stop :(

I didn't keep watching it - the one from years ago I couldn't watch to the end - didn't realise how bad it was going to be but unfortunately saw too much, and the one from a few days ago - again, didn't realise how bad it was going to be. Quickly switched off when I realised how bad it was and started to feel faint. Then just sat there with my head in my hands for ages.

It was to do with animal cruelty.

You might need a bit of help with it, there are online tests you can do but to be honest you're better off going to see your doctor. I get something like this when I see anything bad to do with animals.

In the meantime, I know it sounds nuts but if you go onto YouTube there are loads of relaxation videos with nice music you can listen to.

Out of curiosity can you name the film so that I can make sure I never watch it?

  • The one from years ago was about some Ukranian kids who are now in jail for murder but they started out with cruelty to animals. The Dnepropetrovsk maniacs.. The one from a few days ago was about the dog/cat fur trade in China :( I looked at loads of rescue videos afterwards but still can't shake specific images.

Just can't get over it. Find doctors to be too short of time and will probably dismiss, but shall give a go thanks x

Might be some help on this thread where people were similarly haunted by images....
  • Yes I have been haunted by images of a real life incident I was witness to several years ago. It is hard to come to terms with at times

Oh dear OP. :( I am so sick and tired of people who are animal rights protesters posting graphic images of animal cruelty on facebook.

I know that it happens, and it is dreadful, but I wish people wouldn't do this.

I think the thread in post 6 may help.

I saw a picture very recently of something really quite disturbing on Facebook. I was so furious because this person had shared this picture (as opposed to a video where you chose to look it it) so I had no choice but to see it and it put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

  • Yeah, when I was 9 my Dad watched a programme about Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and they showed children's bodies all decomposing on a skip. It gave me nightmares for years and my Mum went mad with my Dad.
Various articles from the papers about the fur trade and anything to do with any type of animal cruelty I cant watch either. So your not alone in that.I think its just so awful that makes it disturbing.
I think the thing to do is not watch anything or read articles about these things in the first place. Force yourself to think about other things. Also come off Facebook.
