Cheap car tyres

  • I ended up going to ATS Euromaser on the Boucher Road just under £10 a wheel to fit/balance and a new valve, they did a good job - no scratches on my alloys like I have had before (even though it took quite a while).

Tried a lot of companies including small independent places as well as places like Kwik-fit, most wouldn't fit tyres they don't supply as it's difficut to place blame if something goes wrong, and any that do were up into £20 a wheel.

Hometyre were quite expensive but they did try and bargain so bear that in mind if you are using them in future.

Just for comparison I bought the tyres for £68 each including delivery (which was next day) from Camskill - Falken ZE912 225/40/18 (92) W XL TL (got a quote of £147 each for the same tyres fitted by Hurst)

    Must agree!

You get what you pay for, very cheap tyres wear out very quickly and are not value for money

    Thats not true at all...

Its all dependant on the compound / driving style / type of driving (i.e. motorway / windy country roads / carparks and dry steering)....

My old car had a very expensive yolklahama soft compound on which had worn out 11 months later (about 5,000 miles)

Replaced with a budget set, cheapest I could find £35 per tyre, but a much harder compound, 15,000 miles later (nearly 3 years on) they are still in good condition with enough tread left to last another 5,000 miles...
  • Used Central Tyre Services off the ormeau road (beside the firestation across from the gasworks) to repair a slow puncture yesterday. Would recommend them. Cost £7

Will need a couple of new tyres in a few weeks and was quoted decent prices compared to kwik fit etc... £50 each, fitted for a mid range new tyre (bridgestone/other big names)

Its for a nk5 golf btw

I have recommended them on here before - pleasant to deal with, good prices and excellent service. I have used them for quality, mid-range and budget tyres in the past and have never had any complaints. One tyre (out of a set of 4 I bought from them) wore away very badly on the shoulder due to the alignment being out and they replaced it at a reduced price for me, which they didn't need to do.

I have also used Carryduff tyres who are also excellent for the same reasons above. Shop around for what you want, but you'll find both these companies to be very competitive and accommodating. If they don't have what you're after, they'll get them for you - usually for the following day.
