Here's a few more driving videos, just out of interest because they're mostly a long way from southern California:

Be aware that hire car company Mustangs are often quite rubbish as well.0

I want to travel to see los Angeles and las Vegas in 5 days. I want to hire a nice v8 mustang and only hire to travel around los Angeles and then drive to Vegas where I will fly from.
PS i'm over 30 so insurance and hire should be no issue, as well as the fact that I have good experience in rwd cars in case someone mentions it.
any ideas and tips? it has been a life long dream and I am taking my wife to visit USA.
I have seen some hire companies and a few hotels like Bellagio and Ceasers palace and hurrahs in Vegas.
vegas is easy mostly about the strip, I have much clue what to do in los angeles but I love beaches shopping sightseeing etc and of course driving.
budget under 3k.
Do your research on LA before doing anything, and make sure you've got your itinerary down to a tee. LA is colossal, and can be a deeply unpleasant place (including the 'famous' places that you might be familiar with from the movies...i.e. Hollywood).0 -
If this is a "life long dream" then I think it's stupid to blow it on a 5 day trip. I wouldn't even be happy going all that way and seeing one of those 2 areas for 5 days - let alone both of them AND travel between them!
If you can't stretch to much more than 5 days now, I would suggest you go somewhere else and save this for a time you can actually do it properly. Unless you really just want to drive that Mustang around California, I suspect you'd be leaving disappointed that you only saw a fraction of the things you wanted to!0 -
Unless you pay a hefty additional charge, most car rentals only allow you to specify a category of car and not a specific make or model. So it will say "Mustang or similar" and in most cases it will be "similar"."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0

thanks everyone, I hope I have pressed that thanks button for everyone, its now 8 days max, when we arrive it will be 11am, and leaving at night, we cant leave our daughter to long hence the reason for a short trip.0

Much better! It will still be rushed, but you could see a decent amount in that time.0 -
Last time I was in Vegas you could hire Mustangs/Corvettes by the hour. Get something comfortable for the long drives. 300 miles of interstate is not designed for a sports car.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Just a thought.you didn't really mention it but, a lot of people seem to head for mustang convertibles when they go to the US, but it may sound like a good idea but you will burnt to a crisp on long journeys in CA, AZ & NV, roof & Air-con all the way for me0
