Hi All,
I am buying a new sofa and I'm having a bit of a panic as I can't remember working out if I could get it through the door, only that it would fit in the room.
The dimensions of the sofa are
Width (W): 209cm
Height (H): 87cm
Depth (D): 99cm
I'm not sure of the dimensions of the door but I'm guessing the height of it will need to be at least the width of the sofa.
I'm thinking the other option is to take the window out!!!

Hello! Strange question, but are you in the same house as the door you need to get it through now?
If so have you measured the door frame to check?

I hope you haven't bought it yet, just in case.
I've found the best way is having the sofa standing up and then twisting it. I don't think anyone will be able to describe what to do, it'll be trial & error.
Wherever you buy it you should let them know about your concerns and get them to agree that if they deliver and can't get it through the door then they'll take it back.
Have a look on YouTube to see are there any vids.

No, not in the house at the moment but I did measure the door of where I am and the measurements are smaller than the sofa. So I just wanted to check I wasn't missing something.
The door is 28.5 inches by 78 inches and I'm sure mine is no bigger!!0 -
It'll not be the first time a window has been removed to get a couch in.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Have you got patio doors, can you get it around the back ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Am fairly certain it should go in OK. Just make sure that door area is clear of anything on arrival day, so that it will open as wide as it can.0

You need to take a line from the top to the front edge, then measure from half way along that line to the bottom rear corner of the sofa, if that distance is equal to or greater than the width of the door, then it will not fit through.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Hivoodoodoll, you will stand a far better chance of getting things right if you stick to one measuring system.
In your first post you mention centimetres, but your second post uses inches.
Use one or the other... not both.0 -
Thanks Strider,
I'm kind of a visual person so not 100% sure on what you mean but have tried to put it in my words below.
Looking at the sofa from one end you measure diagonally from top to bottom.
Half way along this line you then measure in another diagonal to the bottom back of the sofa.
Good point Wealdroam.
Sofa
Width (W): 209cm
Height (H): 87cm
Depth (D): 99cm
Door
Width: 72.39cm
Height: 198.12cm0
