  • He is a grown adult with the capability to earn his living and chooses not to as he knows you will 'supplement his share'.

Stop enabling him, and either make him stand on his own two feet and pay his fair share or get rid.

I would give him an ultimatum. Shape up or ship out. No discussions, no arguments, no tears.

Life is too short and you sound like you want to get on. Why let him drag you down
Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing' ;)
  • I think he's definitely been trip trapping over your bridge.

Do you know why he changed so much OP?

I understand wanting to work it out. Do you think he lost confidence or is depressed? Has he changed in any pet ways or just work?

Or does he think this is ok as he paid more of the last flat?

Good luck. Maybe try telling him it is upsetting you so you'd like to talk without a walk out so how might you both do that
    ?

The way I read it was that he didn't pay 75% of the flat, just 75% of his share:

He was able to pay 75% of his share of the rent and bills.

So, they probably split the rent & bills 50/50 and he only paid 75% of that 50%, leaving the OP to pay her 50% plus the 25% that the OP couldn't (or wouldn't) pay.

That's on top of the 100% of the food bill that she paid (and is still paying).

This just doesn't sound like a well-balanced relationship.
  • You just have to decide whether you love him enough to subsidise him then OP. I don't see how anyone here can tell you the answer to that, it's a personal call.
