Well had my bubble burst a bit today - after a great parents evening and a very positive chat I had a phone call from school saying he had been fighting and was in isolation for the rest of the day!!!! Aghhh!!! The problem was we had arranged to go to see ' the Theory of Everything' with DD2 DS and DD3 tonight as DD2 and I had wanted to see it since it had come out and its about to go out of the cinema - It didn't feel right to punishing him for fighting by not going as it would be the others I was punishing! I wanted to discuss fighting but agreed that we would do it when we got home at it was an early showing! We did - he doesn't really have an excuse except it was a bit of messing around that got out of hand - I will talk to the school on Monday and see what there story it!!! Anyway punishment inflicted which means no computer/x box so this weekend - so will need to keep him busy!
Cinema was £25 for the 4 of us and I got some sweets and drinks from the shops before hand for £5 keeping costs down a bit! (when did the cinema get so expensive!!!) so entertainment budget is going to disappear quickly this month! Need to think of some cheap (well free!!!:p) things to do to keep us entertained!!! - maybe I should start with the garden if it's dry tomorrow!!!!0 -
NSD Today :T:T:Tquite and achievement for a Saturday with the kids!!!! After a lazy morning with the James Martin DD3 went out to play and Ds and I baked choc chip muffins, cleaned the bunnies, tidied up and then did a bit in the garden. DS's work looks better than mine as he was clearing the raised beds and I was raking leaves (sooo many leaves!!) it looks a bit better but so much to do! I had a bit of a moment when I was thinking how hard it all is to maintain on my own - but it is what it is I guess!!!
DS and I have hatched a plot to decorate the family room and turn it into a cinema room with minimal expense and my friend (the one I made the cake for) offered to paper the feature wall - so that is the plan in the summer holiday - Easter is clearing the room and sorting out desk spaces in the kids rooms first. I will get there!0 -
Hi Judi, sorry I've been lurking but ive read all your diary & I think you are an inspiration. I love reading about your baking times & feel guilty that I hardly bake anymore.
I just wanted to say try not to be too hard on S as isn't that part ADHD that they don't think things through or is that just my S.
Hope you didn't mind me popping by.0 -
Thank you for de lurking Fizzy - and thank you for you lovely comments - glad to know my ramblings at least make sense sometimes!!! But not sure I can take credit for inspiring anyone!!! Just trying to sort myself out (should have done it a long time ago though!!!)
Yes the inability to not think things through is definitely part of DS ADHD - his punishments are short and sharp as that seems to work best but he does need to learn he can't get into fights without ending up in trouble! I don't think having ADHD should be an excuse for bad behaviour as such although I accept that he finds controlling himself in these situations difficult - but I can't ignore it either!!! Its all a great big challenge isn't it?0 -
Hi Jud
Going to the pictures is so expensive, I went with OH a couple of weeks ago, well worth cashing in the Tesco vouchers!new challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00 -
Yes kdalwayskint - this is why we don't go often!!! We did enjoy the film though! and taking our own sweets and drinks with us made a big difference - the prices in the cinema are crazy!!!
Well not a NSD today as I had to do a food shop. I took DS and DD3 which of course ended up costing me money! I also bought seeds and some seed trays and DS and I planted them this afternoon - DD2 reminded me that I don't have green fingers so watch this space!!! I bought chilli and pepper seeds along with a few other veggies for the raised beds and some flower seed - they are 39p a pack in Al*I - so not too bad if I don't get much from them - but great if I do!!! I am along way from being Alys Fowler but I can dream!!!
Lovely roast pork dinner tonight! and plenty left over! Apart from the cinema - which is from my entertainment budget and the seeds its has been quite a frugal weekend!0 -
Not a NSD yesterday - had to lift cash for DS's bus and cadets! But hopefully that should be it for the week!
Getting stuck into the next phase of my Masters - so doing lots of reading but not on here for a change!!! This week I need to make the mothers day cake for the Reverend Mother's church so between that and the studying I should be kept out of spendy trouble!!!0 -

NSD today!!! so I think I'm up to 4 for the month! I am not sure I would class myself a superwoman!!! the underwear over my tights thing is definitely not an a attractive look on a woman my age and size!!!:rotfl:
A bit annoyed with myself (well more than a bit - bl**dy furious!!!) as I got my assignment results today and got a good mark but it was reduced by 5 marks as I uploaded it 5 mins after the deadline!!! I challenged them but it stands - rules is rule was the reply!!! Its still an ok pass mark but below the distinction level so looks like I won't be able to get a distinction even if my dissertation was at distinction level!!! Very frustrating and I have no one else to blame!
The Magician after I made the superman cake for my friends 50th, the Reverend Mother spotted my cake baking talent and asked me to make for a cake with a clock face to illustrate a story for the Mothers day service which will then be cut up and served at the end of Church!!! - at least it will give me some light relief for reading for my dissertation!
Not a lot to report on the MSE front - just plodding along until next payday!!! but everything is within budget so far this month - but a lot of month still left!0
