Hey! I fancy a bit of cake and a cuppa???
I have in the past cared for children with ADHD and the meds make such a difference. At the moment my friends son has grown and his meds need to be altered to factor that in. A lady I spoke to who had a knowledge and interest in neurology had ADHD she said she needed to take her meds before a conference so she was able to speak as she wanted to not just blurt out whatever she was thinking. Speaking to her about her experiences was fascinating.

Been a horrible few days so didn't feel like posting yesterday - lots of trouble with DS and I felt very low yesterday - we had a really bad time around 18 months ago but I really did think we had put that behind us but yesterday brought back some horrible memories!:( DS is being very quite and helpful today after we had a long chat and a good cry last night! So onward and upward but it taught me not to be so complacent! Today it DD2 that's causing the drama - all because I suggested she might want to clean the bathroom occasionally!
NSD yesterday which brings me to 5 so far for the Month :T- but I did spend today as I went to see if I could get icing on the way to cake baking friends tonight but Al*I didn't have any! Bought friend some spring flowers for £3 and some toilet paper (bought some on Sunday I ma sure but it seems to have vanished - even DS remembers bringing it in! But can we find it???? can we heck!)
Went to cake baking friend and had another lesson - flower making this time! and came away with all the equipment to make the Mothers Day cake and some of the icing and flower paste (its very technical!!!) just need the main sugar paste icing now! If I am going to do this more often (I have had another request!) I do need to start buying some bits - I feel awful always borrowing hers!!! This cake will really challenge my technical abilities!!!! :rotfl:
Got my 6 month review at work tomorrow - hopefully things will be fine! I will then be off probation!!!! Which will make me feel a little better I'm sure - but I still don't have a dissertation question despite lots of reading!!! Need to get my thinking cap on! (but not before I have made this cake!!!:o)
and no idea what to get the Reverend Mother for mothers day - suggestions on a post care please!!!!0 -
Morning Judi. Going through a probation period at work is awful but nothing you can do now but I'm sure you'll be fine.
Mum doesn't need money spent she knows you love her give her a voucher of kindness maybe do something you know she hates doing. It's a Hallmark day & only love & kindness required.
I wasn't being flippant about ADHD being used as an excuse but S had a blip. A blip that was incredibly upsetting I grant you. So long as he knows it was wrong which I'm sure he does.
My son is on the Austistic Spectrum & whilst at high school he bunked off whilst I was at work & came home. Nice lady from British Gas!called our house to speak to us obviously he answered & said we were out. British Gas lady immediately revealed herself as form tutor & told him to get back to school. I was mortified. I asked school to double punishment period. I'm not using the ASD as excuse but it also means he can't lie. So I have to take silver lining in that. Now 29 still doesn't think things through but also can't lie.
You are doing great be proud of yourself & your children. It's fine that you despair we all do at times.0 -
Thanks Fizzy - review meeting went really well - it was meant to last an hour but was there for 2 and a half hours! But most of it was discussing my plans for the services and teams and got amazing feedback - so I guess I have to go to work on Monday after all!!! Lots to do!!!
Tonight I was really naughty and we got a takeaway! It was 6pm when I got in and I then had to go pick up a cutter for my cake so it was really late when we were on our way home so I decided to get an Indian - we got 2 meals between the 4 of us so not too bad and was really nice - we do this so rarely these days that it was a real treat and a bit of a celebration - I have a budget for entertainment and turned down 3 different events this week that would have cost a lot more so I am quite happy!
Have spent the rest of the night making sugar paste flowers for the Mothers day cake!!! and tomorrow I have decided to do an afternoon tea for the Reverend mother - I was going to take her out but a decent afternoon tea is around £15 a head so can do it much cheaper and just as nice at home - but need to go shopping first thing to get the things I need, then clean and bake to be ready for 3.30!
Watching Comic relief - reminds me of how lucky we are!!!0 -

judi24 congratulations! Didn't expect anything else, well done. They're lucky to have you :T
Regarding not becoming complacent, absolutely. This is often felt by me when I get ill (rarely) or something unexpected unpleasant happens. It's about counting your blessings every day and knowing exactly why you feel happy and keep repeating those things to yourself. Noticing when things are going well and celebrating every achievement.0 -
Absolutely & everybody needs a takeaway when they are doing as well as you.
Great news about the feedback.0 -
Thanks Magician, Beannie and Fizzy for your kind words! Yes was very happy with my feedback - my one negative is my inability to use my admin support properly and this is something I know I struggle with and not just at work! My current secretary has 2 roles - one to support me and one to support the training and development service - she wasn't happy to manage a big meeting for me and was saying it wasn't her job - which then meant I lost the ability to rely on her and didn't want to ask her to do anything! My boss is absolutely right in that I have to learn to use the support that I have - I have a lovely new PA starting soon - but I will be sharing her time with a Consultant and my boss wants me to make sure I get my support as priority! In my personal life I am exactly the same and rarely rely on others. If I do the minute they let me down I then become tough and even more independent that eventually pushes people away! Need to work on this I think!!!
Anyway - crazy day today - woken by DD3 and DS 'Playing' at 7,30 - no lie in for me! :mad:So was up and out to As*a by 9 and back by 10.30, cleaned house, baked cake for Sunday and then prepared afternoon tea for the Rev - it was lovely!!! Even did home made scones!
Then finished Icing the cake (took ages!!!) and it looks really good. I think the Rev will be impressed!
DD1 and DD2 arrived home tonight from friends Daughters baby shower this evening and house has been full of noise and craziness since- love having all the kids together (but only for an hour or two!:rotfl:) Frantic few mins to get them all to bed as I had stripped all the beds and hadn't made them up!!!
Calm 5 mins now before bed! Busy, spendy, fun and crazy day!!!0 -
Just a quick update - crazy day on Sunday. Lovely breakfast made by the kids, then Church, then home made some cupcakes and took them to work for all the mummies that had to work on Mothers day. Then a few hours of chilling followed by a Mexican feast made by the girls and topped off by an almighty barny between the older 2 which ended up in the eldest leaving in tears!!!!
Chatted once she got home and she was fine - she is just worried about me and the drama that DD2 seems to cause at every available opportunity!
Work is busy and off to London for a meeting tomorrow which I am not looking forward to - the meeting is fine but having to be organised and away by 6.30 is causing me all sorts of stress!
Not much to report on the money saving front - NSD's yesterday and today so at least that might make up for my spendy Saturday! Only a week until payday!0 -
You could try telling yourself that you believe that your new PA will help you and you will be grateful for any small thing she does and if she is unable to manage to succeed to help you, then you won't hold it against her, any little thing she manages to do is a bonus.
Maybe then you won't be giving your complete trust and you have control over your feelings if she doesn't live up to expectation.
Basically you are giving her permission to fail and you are giving yourself permission to allow her to.
Allow yourself to think, it's ok if she doesn't manage to help me, any small thing she does will be a bonus. Then it's not a let down, you've given permission for it to happen, you are in control.
