Warning about www.tomsgardenequipment.co.uk

I am posting to warn people about the website https://www.tomsgardenequipment.co.uk and it's associated site https://www.pollardlandscapes.co.uk

I ordered a chainsaw on 24th December and when it didn't arrive I tried to contact them. They have taken £350 from my credit card but do not respond to their online contact form or emails and their phone message service is full. I looked at their ordering info page and it says they dispatch by City Link within 24 hours. I am concerned that they may have been hit hard by the collapse of City Link and although their website is still open for business, they may not be supplying any goods or indeed might be in serious financial trouble. I have emailed the proprietor directly too but nobody responds. I have begun the charge-back process with my credit card company. Be warned. Of course there may be other explanations, but if the shop is closed for the holidays there should certainly be a notice to this effect on the website.

They probably shut down at lunchtime on 24th, or even 23rd, and won't be back until next Monday.

Depending on how the website was created, it might be impossible for them to make small announcements etc as it'd take the designer/coder a month to get round to it - and a bill of £300. I've seen loads of small and medium companies caught out like that.

    I suspect you've over-reacted and reacted prematurely.

Citylink have 30,000 parcels spread across their depots and these are not been delivered and have to be collected from depots.
Depots are only being kept open until 6th Jan. according to last reports.

so you item could be at a CL depot. if you have any tracking details you will need to contact Citylink, if not you will need to contact supplier.

so you can't warn people off a supplier because the courier they use has gone bust and the fact you try and call then over a holiday period.
  • I have to agree sorry OP, that it's a bit unfair to badmouth them, when you ordered the product Christmas Eve, and they have not got it to you yet. It has been the holiday season, and there probably isn't anyone there at the moment. Also as people have said, citilink went bust, so this is probably why you haven't got your package yet.
No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j

infact OP the delivery information states
    4. Delivery Information - We offer free delivery to residents of the U.K. zone 1 for all order over £150.00. Orders below that amount are charged £7.20 delivery charge. Delivery is normally the next working day for orders received before 2.00pm. In the event that your order will take longer than this, we will contact you to notify you of the expected delivery date, and you will have the option to cancel if you wish.
City Link charge extra for certain postcodes which they class as Highlands and Islands. These postcodes can be found here: http://www.packagingfirst.co.uk/1.0.2.0/23/City_Link_Zones.pdf

Please contact us for a quotation for delivery.

    5. Local Delivery: We deliver throughout the South West of England using our own vans. (From Cardiff to Salisbury, Devon and Cornwall).

they say delivery is NORMALLY next if ordered before 2PM. it also does not state they just use Citylink for deliveries, it just says Citylink charge extra for certain post codes

My original post is balanced and totally fair. I cannot comprehend why people on forums seem to take delight in rubbishing other's posts - is it some kind of ego thing?

I posted a warning, not a vent. Heed it or not, your choice, but I don't see the point in analysing it to the nth degree.
