I could do with doing this just so I can justify why I have so many cookbooks! I mean I have everything from Yottam Ottolenghi to the Hairy Bikers. I've not even used a recipe out of the Yottam book. I'll have to flick through one book till I find a recipe I have 90% of the ingredients for.
I also need to tie this in with clearing out the freezer and store cupboards. I reckon I have about £1000 of food packed away. Like 10kg of red lentils........Money money money.

If the Yotam book you've got is Plenty, there's an excellent recipe for spiced red lentils in it.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

Now that I have moved house and unpacked my (rather large) collection of cookbooks, I would like to join this challenge. I wouldn't mind, but before I moved house, I donated a lot of cookbooks to charity that I new I'd never use but somehow I still have three shelves of cookery books to inspire me.
My aim will be to try one new meal from a cookery book every fortnight. by the end of the year, we should have tried 21 new meals; some keepers and some gakkers!

I made Fava, which isn't the bean in this case, it's apparently a Greek dip made with yellow split peas. It was another Ottolenghi one and as usual I made loads... and I don't like it.
First thing I've made in a long time that I've outright disliked rather than just not particularly enjoyed. I don't know why. I like all the individual ingredients and I followed the recipe to the letter.
I've fried the rest of it up with chillies, cumin, ginger and mustard seeds to mask the flavour and now it's niceSaving for deposit: Finished! :j

Decided to post having read this post a few times. I've roughly counted my cookbooks, I currently have ~70 and that was a after a cull not so long ago. Each time I cook a new recipe I put a little index tab on the page. Some books have loads of tabs, some have none.
Today I made a new recipe but off the allrecipe website, honey Garlic Chicken thighs cooked in the slow cooker. It got a mixed reaction from the kids. It was very easy to make but probably contains a lot of salt and sugar so not the end of the world it's not a new family favourite.
I also started a new recipe today Parker's Beef Stew from Barefoot Contessa's back to basics. It has a promising start, marinading diced chuck steak overnight in a bottle of red wine with garlic and bay leaves......Due to be MF [STRIKE] Jan 2033[/STRIKE] Aug 2032.
