Thanks Mrs Veg Plot I shall have a look at the recipe. I hope your meeting went well and was worth sacrificing the garlic in your recipe
If you're looking for a tasty, garlic free lamb burger, the recipe I used from Ginger Pig contained cinnamon, all spice, cumin and mace, as well as fresh parsley and mint, but no garlic. Since I already had all the dried spices, this recipe was super tasty and not as expensive as it sounds.
Our dinner tonight is easy as I'm remaking the sausage and butterbean hotpot I made a few weeks ago. A simple, tasty meal.0 -
Having just read this whole thread, I would like to say what a FABULOUS idea. I was looking lovingly at my shelf of cookbooks the other day. They are on the bottom shelf (due to their weight) and because they are partially covered by my settee, I just don't think to use them.
I can't commit to say, 1 recipe a week because I'm trying to save money where I can as I have a baby due in June. However, I will certainly sit and have a look this weekend at what I've got and what I can cook without too many subs. I really think I may have to declutter then ones that really don't appeal as well.
Also, whoever mentioned the BBCGoodFood One Pot Chinese Beef, that is also a regular dish in our house. How long til pay day?

Another new to me recipe. Jamie Oliver's butternut squash risotto
http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/rice-recipes/roast-squash-sage-chestnut-and-pancetta-risotto/
It was amazing. Used up left over streaky bacon instead of the pancetta , missed out the marscapone altoghter and had loads of sage and chestnuts left from Christmas.
Will be making it again, sooner rather then later me thinks0 -
S-Iam your lamb burger recipe sounds great, I will give it a try.
Tonight I made the HD Coq au vin although I made it in the slow cooker as opposed to baking it in the oven. The chicken just fell off the bone. I did add extra carrots and onion to bulk the sauce out.
Welcome trying really hard. I'm enjoying trying out new recipies.
Next week I am trying three new recipes from the Hairy Dieters book 3.
1. Turkey chilli with cauliflower rice. I'm not sure that the cauliflower rice will go down well with my clan.
2. Aubergine bake.
3. Chicken stir fry.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I've not tried cauliflower rice before, but we frequently eat mashed cauliflower in leu of mash potato. It really is lovely. And well worth a try.
Tonight I'm trying out a Chicken pasta bake recipe from the good2know website. OH is training for a major cycling race in the summer, so I'm always looking for new pasta recipes.0 -
Weekends are generally my cookbook times. Less time during the week and OH Has been away with work so generally been doing quicker throw it in the oven things! However this week I've been busy with recipes!
Saturday I did a Full of Goodness Broth from Good Housekeeping Healthy Meals in Minutes it took no more than 15 minutes and was lovely (even though I did overdo the curry paste!) it was our first recipe with tofu and I'd probably use chicken next time but it was nice.
Sunday I made custard cookies from a kit I got for Christmas but have researched the recipe to make them again (bbc good food website)
On Wednesday I made pizza jackets from the SuperSavvyMe website. They were lovely and really filling :-)
Today I'm making Florentines from a big baking book (the title escapes me at the moment) and chicken risotto from Mum's Slow-Cooked Favourites (not in the slow cooker!)NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Today I'm making Meatloaf from Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food. OH said he didn't want it but when I showed him the picture he said he's give it a go!
I'm doing well with cooking a new recipe a week, def easier to do a weekends, it's also making me use a bits I've bought reduced or had leftover that I'm not quite sure what to do with. The meatloaf is all prepared, ready to stick in the oven later! Think I will go and look through some books for inspiration for next weekend.[STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]

We had our most yummy meal yet last night - Spiced lamb pittas from Rachel Allen's Easy Meals. I'd made it the night before to give the flavours time to develop and it was amazing! DH and I were well impressed. This is definitely the best recipe I've found using minced lamb. The mixture contains turmeric, cumin and coriander but no chilli, so it was flavoursome but not spicy hot. Plus as all it contains, in addition to the spices are minced lamb, potatoes, frozen peas, onion and potatoes its cheap too
This is definitely a keeper.0 -
I have made two of the three HD recipes planned for this week.
The turkey chilli was very tasty and not too spicy for the daughter who is a bit of a chilli lightweight. I was not impressed with the cauliflower rice which was dry fried with cumin seeds. Next time I will try microwaving it instead.
We had the aubergine bake tonight. I had it with green beans and the family had it with pasta. Hubby said that the only thing that would improve it would be the addition of some meat (ever the carnivore).
Will be making the HD stir fry tomorrow night. These three recipes are from.book 3.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I've just bought the Ministry of Food after reading some great reviews, so am planning to give this one a try.
There are some great recipes being tried, The Hairy Dieters seems to be a firm favourite at the moment. I might have a look at any of their recipes on the internet0
