flutterbyuk25 wrote: »Not sure if this is the right place to post as it's more about periods than TTC as such but is linked. Me and BF decided to TTC this year, I came off the pill at end of Dec and had my first 'real' period at end of Jan.
I have been on pill since I was 17 (just turned 33 on the weekend). I've had periods since I was around 11 and have always had the same PMS symptoms such as horrible period pain, grumpyness and sore breasts each month, and little bit of red/brown discharge (sorry if TMI!), both before I took the pill and whilst I was on it.
However the last 2 periods I've had have literally come out of the blue, both were 3/4 days early (looking at a 26 day cycle at mo), and I've started bleeding immediately with no warning signs, and lots of it! No cramping, no grumpyness, no soreness.
Is this 'normal'? I know everyone is different, but I was expecting to have some warning signs of a period!
Thanks in advance, and sorry again if I shouldn't have asked here
Hi,
So I'm assuming you've only had two periods since coming off the pill?
My first two cycles after coming off the pill were 27 days and now they're 30 days. I was the opposite to you as I would be fine until AF arrived. My periods were heavy and painful and I was a right miserable witch! Now they're light, painful and I don't suffer with PMS anywhere near as much! I have also noticed spotting for the first time recently. My periods now are also nothing like the ones pre-pill days.
stopping hormonal contraception after 16 years is bound to shock your body so I would allow a couple more cycles to let your body get its self-regulated rhythm backOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

congratulations BlueGreen!
Flutterby, I can echo what Lulu says. Give it a bit more time and see what becomes regular for you. It can take quite a few months to return to normality, and you are older now, so there will most likely be a new norm for you. Download an app such as Ovia, and you can monitor the information so you can get a proper record of how your cycle now works. I'm really enjoying tracking mine (although I am a geek) and it's reassuring to see a pattern emerging.Mortgage: [STRIKE]Apr 2014 £141, 415[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£137,491[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£128k [/STRIKE] Dec 2019 £81,6210 -

Just an update to say I gave the bag to my husband - he was so shocked when he opened the babygro, I thought I'd freaked him out but realised he was tearing up which I've only seen once before at our wedding! He was much more emotional than I thought he'd be and completly gobsmacked even though we've been TTC!
When he opened the whiskey he was like 'is this for the baby?!' then poured himself a straight one right away - I'm glad I included it now :rotfl:
Baby dust to everyone, I really really hope we get a few more BFPs on this thread this month! I don't think we're at my prediction of five yet?! I'm beginning to wonder how I even got pregnant last time. Hubby just asked me whether DTD just before I'm due on will get me pregnant? I've tried explaining the biology of it all again but I'm not sure it'll stick in his head! Duh!0

Congratulations Bluegreen!
I've been driving myself nuts all day at work wondering whether I could be pregnant or not. AF is due tomorrow and the last 3 cycles have been like clockwork but I've had no spotting yet. OH has finally got fed up with me and popped out to pick up a couple of tests.
I know you guys know what I'm going through and this is the first month for me!
Thing is, this week is the week from hell at work, I'm mega stressed and have cried twice since I got home so am worried a negative test may tip me over the edge.
So, any advice? Should I test in the morning or wait until Friday when things will return to normal at work?0 -
I don't think my OH has any idea how it happen, despite being well informed my me and being somewhat intelligent!
For the newby asking about post pill periods- don't worry, nothings too much info for this group! My only AF post pill was practically none existent but whI've come off the pill before it took about 4 months for my periods to get into a routine and they were never liked my pre pill ones. I think age does affect them.0 -
Chickp, I doubt you'll last until Friday! just bear in mind that stress can affect your periods but I really hope it's a bfp for you too!0
