I put my excess plants onto free cycle last night. Lots of takers expected to pick them up today. Makes room for me to plant other things, yay!

Been too busy over these last few days looking after the animals to spend much time on the plot. However, I have nearly finished harvesting the first bed of new potatoes, the carrots seem to be germinating - at last. Sown more lettuces, beetroot and kohl rabi and set up an automatic watering system in the tunnel (all from bits I already had), hopefully that will save time. 3 squash planted out, another 3 to go out this week.

Just need to keep pottering away at it all over the next few weeks - I think the next things to go out will be the beans - hopefully this week.

Lots of digging and weeding to report over the weekend... one bed cleared for spuds.

My basil seeds just don't seem to be growing at all this year. :(

Got some bitesize peppers to pot up soon, and will have a go at growing more lettuce and some parsley and coriander.

First salad of the year with home grown broad beans and peas with pomegranate and a lemon vinaigrette. Delicious.

Sounds like my kind of salad :)

Runner beans, 2 more squashes, and a new bed of carrots all sown/planted today
    Cucumbers now planted in tunnel

new potatoes, purple beans, courgette, strawberries all part of our tea tonight.

This year i thought I was way behind with things but looking back on last year I only felt well enough (mobility) to start on the plot on the 7/6/14 so I mustn't feel too despondent.

Got my first harvest of gooseberries today along with my first gherkin of the year. Pulled up the pak choi that had run to seed and managed to get a good bag of useable leaves. French beans starting to flower, and... ...the supermarket dried peas that I sowed have all germinated into beautiful (and quite vigorous looking) seedlings

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

That's interesting, I would be curious to know what sort of peas and how tall they grow and what sort of harvest you get - please let us know.
  • So far just harvesting lettuce, but by jove it tastes nice! Never been keen on the tasteless icebergs from the supermarket, but salad bowl is quite tasty. I'm tempted to try a... salad! (I'm Scottish - we don't do salads!!)

Aphids and red spider mite are destroying everything in my greenhouse - my tomatoes are looking terrible. Really concerned they're not going to survive. :(
