Welcome Wealthygirl.
Your son reminds me of my youngest son. We used to give him bus fare to get to and from school and he'd buy sweets on the walk home instead.:DThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hello Everyone, Happy New Year.
Lazy day today, it's nearly 5pm and I've just been watching films all day.
Had a lovely evening last night with my Brother and Sister in Law, but felt a little sad as this is probably going to be our last NYE in this home. I've been here 12 years now and our home overlooks the Thames in Greenwich, so the last time we watch the fireworks from our balcony.
Hate to get a little melancholy on the first day of the new year, but I have never really enjoyed NYE, I don't think I'm alone either.
I am looking forward to 2015 as it is going to be the Year of the Rivett, I turn 39 next Friday so I have a year to get myself Fit for 40 and start a brand new chapter in my very own book of life, lots of new beginnings with my wonderful Husband.
I wish you all a brilliant year ahead.

Happy New Year everyone!
Me and OH did our NYE tradition of meal out and going to see a film....saw The Hobbit and really enjoyed it, even if most of it isn't in the actual book!
Totally sober night as I cannot drink and OH hardly does anymore and think we were both asleep by 1030pm...
In the middle of renovating our home, so OH was painting the attic and I was assisting him where I can...used the time to do a proper stock take of the cupboards as I'm determined to cut our spending on food etc right down...also hoping, if my health lets me, to grow more of our produce on our allotment.
Looking forward to reading everyone's posts and picking up tips etc0 -
Hello everyone and a Happy New Year.
Today has been a completely unproductive day as I am recovering from last night. And to think I was the one who initially wanted to try and get the last train home before midnight. Still, it was good fun and 2014 is done and dusted.
Haven't left the house today so also been a NSD, wahey!
Planning on a dry January, so a lot less will be spent on booze.
Tru- - you've just reminded me that my day wasn't completely unproductive as I have a wash in the machine, so will go and check if it's finished in a min. Annoyingly my washing machine isn't in the kitchen, but in the outhouse, so I have to go outside in the cold to do the washing.
I've already had my dinner, a packet of Pasta and Sauce. Must admit though, feeling a bit hungry again. Not good on Day 1 of the diet, but completely understandable as the day after a lot of drink, I always want to eat all round me!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Happy New year everyone.
Welcome to the fold Daisychain
Been MIA for a few days, we went to the zoo on Tuesday and it was gorgeous blue skies and not that cold even though their was ice everywhere. We took the car in for a change, we don't normally because it costs a lot of money, but it is only £4 over winter and as we are members that is all we paid.
We took a flask of coffee and a flask of soup and some rolls with us. It was nice just going out as a couple for a change
DD had to do a three hour shift yesterday so we took her because the buses were on Sunday service and looked around the mall until she finished work, spent zilch, nothing, nada because there was nothing that we actually needed nor wanted, I feel liberated not falling into the January sales malarky
Saw the New Year in as a family, watched the Queen tribute and fireworks, then went to bed.
Had a roast at lunchtime and have some bits and bobs and leftovers with salad for a buffet tea tonight.
I have actually LOST 4lbs in weight over Christmas
Going over to get some manure for the garden from the nursery tomorrow and the boys will dig it in while I get the tree and decs down.
Then it will be back to a bit of normality and a further tightening of belts for 2015.

Hello Everyone, please may I join in? I have never posted on a forum and it took three attempts to register!
OH and I are visiting DS1 in Edinburgh for Hogmanay for the first time. The fireworks were great.
not quite a NSD as the potatoes l bought yesterday turned out to be green when I washed them so I went to local mrS for more but was YS.
l have read for almost two years and you all sound friendly and sensible.
We are selling our house and reading what everyone else is doing helps to put things into perspective when all seems overwhelming.

Welcome TT, we love having new friends to talk to, and if you have lurked for a while you will almost know who we are.
I lurked for about a year before I plucked up courage to join MSE, one of the best things I have ever done, such friendship and goodwill.
